About a year ago, I had posted a craigslist ad for a designer to develop a web site for me, being contacted by David Caputo of positronicdesign.com.

Shortly after agreeing to a overpriced proposal and giving the deposit for the work, I was redirected to a employee, who was to handle the design of my site. Realizing the designer was not going to work out, David Caputo insisted that I continue to use his services since he "already spent the deposit".

After a long struggle and finally agreeing to a design, it was given to another employee for programming, this is where it turned into a real nightmare.

The employee was non-responsive and unable to be reached. David argued that the employee was dedicated to my project, and he was unsure at times of the status, claiming he was "just the sales guy".

David came to me a few weeks later to tell me that the design created was not agreed upon, and that it was going to require another $2000 for the programming. I agreed to pay, neglecting to realize what was to come.

After finally receiving a example of the coded design about 2 months later, I had another developer review, and did my own investigation as well. It appeared that David Caputo had subcontracted my design to a freelancer from Nepal.

The review came back from the developer shortly after, insisting to discontinue any work with Positronic Design, stating the techniques used were vulnerable to attacks and that quality of the product was not worth the amount paid.

I was overcharged by thousands of dollars, in which David Caputo promised me a professional design and completed site, but only paid $250 for the programming portion. David Caputo insisted this would of costed more then 5 thousand dollars. I never had my project completed, and I've never received my money back.

This is a fair warning for anyone looking to use Positronic Design, The SEO Company, stay away from this company. They will extort you for more money then agreed, and then outsource the work they promise to do in-house. It seemed to me the relationship between david and his employees were distant, and that they hardly spoke to each other.

It seems to me they will not uphold their word on their "professional" service either, since I have not heard back on any of the emails sent months ago.

This was likely the most unprofessional company I've worked with in the many years of my web experience, and have begun the proceedings to take him to court.

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, June 12, 2014

I am the owner of the company in question and this posting is a result of an extortion attempt this customer made in an attempt to get all the work we did for her for free. As it is, she didn't pay me for half of it. We got the site 97% built and she suddenly changed all the passwords and demanded a refund of her deposit. She told me that if she didn't get the money that she'd try to ruin my reputation online. If you're reading this because you saw it come up in the search results, then you see how much damage a threat like that can do nowadays.

As you see, the report states that she would be pursuing legal action. This has not happened, because she has no case, and my counter-claim that she should pay her remaining balance due would be upheld. She complained to the BBB, but her claim was dismissed.

I have been in business for 24 years. My company has successfully built hundreds of web sites since 1995. This includes for police departments, mayors, senators, doctors, lawyers, and every other kind of business you can imagine. I am on the board of directors of Pioneer Valley Local First and a member of two chambers of commerce. We have published the Hidden Hills of Western Massachusetts map for 15 years. I am a well known and respected member of my local business community.

Potential clients are welcome to browse our testimonials page and contact anyone on the list for backup of my above claims.
