on august 9,2002 me and 5 of my friends arrived in fort lauderdale florida 4 a 3day stay in fort lauderdale/2day cruise on ocean breeze/3day 2 night in orlando.

Our trip started off very badly. We were lied to by the night staff/management @ the hotel, we were told that we would not be charged for the entire night because of all the problems we went through trying to get the rental car, arranged also by the ramada plaza resorts. Which led to us arriving at the hotel at approx. 3:00 am in the morning, I explained to the nice rep./manager @ the hotel

i prearrange and paid for the night and they assured me that my credit card would not be charged and they would also not charge me for the night and a copy of my credit card was only needed because of policy, but no charges would occur.

When we checked out 2 days letter the day staff informed me my credit card would be charged 136.00 for hotel stay and taxes. The day manager called the night manager and he basically lied and said they misuderstood what I said.

Then we arrived at port 2 board the cruise ship, had 2 pay 20.00 for parking and was told we had to also make a 100.00 deposit for 19.00 gratuity fee and any other charges that may occur because the boat had a rule no cash allowed for transactions.

When I orignally booked this trip I repeatedly asked the reservation rep. @ ramada was there any other charges I would be responsible for once we arrived they said no. I soon found out that was a lie.

The only bright spot of the trip was when I called a manager from the ramada plaza, and explained too him what we where going through, he provided me and my friends with better hotel accomadations. I would like to commend him for keeping his word.

But I am still out of money for hotel stay and taxes I was told I would not have to pay. I will be filing a report with BBB and florida travel agency federation and sending a letter to the coporate office of ramada plaza resort to get a resolution to my situation

You can read my "hell" with this so-called company, Ramada Plaza Resorts (last updated 3/21/02) Here is what I did: I sent the lengthy ripoff report to my Attny General Richard Blumenthal (from Connecticut) and the Commissioner of the Florida Department of Consumer Services Mr Charles H Bronson and, of course, Ramada Plaza Resorts. I did get $1200 which is better than nothing!!! They refunded me the initial trip charges of $598 per person. I am thrilled and wanted to share the information with you all and hopefully you can have the same luck I did. Hey - I got this all done within a MONTH! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services Charles H Bronson, Commissioner Division of Consumer Services 407 S Calhoun St Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0800 1-800-HELP-FLA www.800helpusa.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ramada Plaza Resorts 2419 E Commecrcial Blvd Fort Lauderdale FL 33308 telephone: 954-630-9449 Leslie Maynard - Compliance Department Manager Gina Johns - Admin Asst to VP Mr Lambert - VP Ramada Plaza Reorts Mr Lambert's personal fax: 954-331-4180 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Don't give up!
