On March 13th I brought an express mail to the counter at the Ramona Post Office and was told it was "guaranteed" to arrive at its destination by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15th.  When it did not, I attempted to track the item via the website and also phone number on the packing slip and was given an automated reply "Item Received March 13th".  I attempted to contact customer service and the automated response was that their offices were closed (at 11:00 a.m. Monday, and also during business hours the next day)

Upon contacting the Ramona Post Office I was informed that they could tell me nothing because there was nothing on the computer system.  They did call the destinationpost office; however, they could only say that it had not been received.It is now March 17, and still there is no news of my mail and no way to track what happened to it.  I would like to warn others about my experience and to not mail anything of importance via this method (this was a critical piece of mail) because, unlike Fed Ex or UPS, USPS has little concern about the problem and there is no way to track the item once it leaves Ramona.    Be careful what you mail via this method; I would expect this problem; I see from googling this is commonplace. Not only is the service unreliable, but if the mail is lost, you will have no way to track it, as with Fed Ex and UPS.  Avoid sending anything valuable via Express Mail, or anything which must meet a deadline.
