I had a problem with some coils on my 2001 525i BMW two weeks after I bought it from a different dealer. I took it to Reeves BMW thinking it was the best place to service my vehicle.

The first time I left my vehicle with them, they repalced two coils, the thermostat, and also did some routine maitenance that I requested and I was on my way... almost a 1,000.00 in repair.

Less than 48 hrs. later- the vibration started again from the misfiring coils and the service engine light was on. I again dropped my vehicle off at Reeves.

This time they said they replaced the coils again and said that I needed a new water pump...around 800.00 later- I was on my way again.

Less than 24 hrs. later, my car felt like a vibratig bed at an old motel and once again, that service engine light, sparkling ever so brightly, made an apperance.

I took my car back to Reeves two more times after this occurance for the same problem. They ended up telling me that the coils were sticking due to poor maitenance from the previous owner and said that driving the car for a while would more than likely pan out the problem.

Hoping my trouble would soon be at an end, I left the dealership, whom I thought had taken excellent care of me, and continued to drive the vehicle in hopes of the problem panning out.

Three weeks later, I find my car needs a new battery and an alternator. Calling around to some various mechanics, I decided not to go to Reeves, seeing how they were going to charge me 300.00 to replace a battery, after they had already told me the battery was $147.00!

Who were they kidding? 300.00 to replace a battery? I didn't think so. I took the car to a mechanic that had some great references. Not only did the mechanic change my battery and fix my alternator for far less than Reeves- he also fixed that annoying problem with the misfiring coils for under $200.00!!!!!

He said no matter how many times Reeves replaced the coils, the problem would never be fixed without fixing the root of the problem.

Are the mechanics at Reeves BMW that ignorant- or are they telling customers to replace parts that are uneccessary? I would think @ 120.00 an hour, they would have some of the best knowledge of BMWs out of anyone.

Aircraft mechanics don't even get paid that much! Whatever the case, I hope nobody else gets taken by Reeves. All of that money spent and they never even fixed the problem I origionally had with my vehicle.

I feel completely taken advantage of. Is Reeves BMW ripping people off because they can? I'll never know for sure, but that sure is heck what it seems like to me. Don't get yourself or your wallet caught in this mess- dont ever go to Reeves BMW!

while the shop charges $120.00 an hour the mechanics get about $25.00 an hour. It may be more or less depending on where you are at.
