Hello, I recently purchased Mike Collins' Home Study Course, "Wholesaling Houses for a Living." I was then contacted by one of their sales people, Derrick Sessoms. He convinced me to "Invest" in their REI-Gold mentoring program, which offered private phone and email consultations with a live real estate investor. I had 1 phone conversation with my "personally assigned mentor", Doug Powell. In our conversation, Mr. Powell told me that we would not be speaking by phone any more, but by email. Even though, that's not what I was promised. The first page of the REI-Gold website says...

"Welcome to one of the world's most exclusive training programs specific to Wholesaling Real Estate. The resources contained in this website are designed to provide you with the industry's most cutting-edge training, techniques and marketing tools utilized by the Nation's top wholesalers.

Combined with live phone support via the REI Gold HotLine and regular calls with your dedicated mentor, you are now armed with the knowledge and support to take your wholesaling business to the next level and stay far ahead of your competition to the best deals.

We poured our hearts into this program along with the full resources of RehabList.com, YouSell.com, RehabHardMoney.com, FlippingMentor.com and PitchFreeSeminar.com. None of this will make any difference to you if you don't TAKE ACTION and IMPLEMENT!

We look forward to working with you and to your continued success in real estate!

Be well,

Mike Collins "

Pretty lofty promises when all I got was a 5-year old self-study program that Mr. Collins frequently sells for $97 on the Internet. I have nothing against Mr. Collins but at this point, I am so frustrated, I just want my money back.

They have added a few extras to the website, but the course is all web-based. At least with the home-study course, you can listen to it in the car.

Since my mentor told me not to call him, I sent him several emails asking about contracts, marketing, etc., which he ignored. The only emails he responded to were the ones that only required a quick answer. When I sent him an email asking him why he wasn't responding to my emails, he ignored those too. I have also corresponded with my sales rep, Derrick Sessoms, who said he has done all he can do and his boss, Scott Labell, who has done nothing.

I have been promised by Mr. Sessoms and another sales rep from rehablist that they would look into it. I guess they are still looking into it as I have yet to hear anything back. This is a pre-paid monthly membership and I paid for 3 months @ $200 a month. Normally, they demand 6 months in advance but they were doing me a "favor." They also have a no-refund policy and now I can see why. Should have been a red-flag!

I don't know if Mike Collins knows how his company is being run, but I hope he finds out.

I just want to help others avoid this scam as well!

Sincerely,

Madintn

I, too, signed up for the REI Gold mentoring program, sounds like at about the same time as the person above.  Unknown to me, my mentor(the same Doug) was going on to other things at this time, and no longer worked for this company.  After several months of nothing, I took a trip to their office in Tampa, where I was treated very nicely and with respect.  Another mentor, Adam Gregory, sat down with me and listened to my story & my request for my money back.  I was treated Very fairly, and they explained what had happened and offered to make good on my mentoring, with Adam as my mentor.

They were more than fair, and when I agreed to this Adam gave 110% for the next 3 months to ensure my success.  He was very prompt about answering phone calls and emails, even at night & over weekends.  I actually completed a successful transaction using their system, and have gone on to complete several more since then.

A few days ago, I contacted them & indicated that since I had completed this transaction while under their tutelage, I was entitled to my money back anyway!  I did not ask for it, as they have a different program, Rehablist.com, that I am interested in, so I asked for the equivilent of my investment in that program.  They were very prompt in answering my request, and agreed to my terms and were totally supportive and helpful.

I think that because of the nature of their business, the mentors who are good at it go on to their own investing businesses, and this sometimes creates confusion when the communications break down for a few days.  All I can say is that when the mistake was pointed out, REI Gold did whatever it took to make it right.  I am very happy with them and their entire company, and have made some good friends and business contacts in the process.  Thank you.

I put the wrong amount in the report. I actually paid for 3 months @ $300 per month. I had already paid for the Wholesaling Courses program which was overpriced at $400. Then I paid an additional $500 to be part of the prestigious "REI-Gold Mentoring Program." The total I gave them was $900.
