Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My family and I ( Son age 1 daughter age 4 ) bought a 98 Saturn used from another person and after just a few months the engine rods went and the vehicle no longer ran. We had it towed to Whitnsville REN Motors or also known as REN Sales & Service as we lived in Grafton. During recesssion our family was hurt and we dealt with rare occassion of being the unemployed. My father in law offered to pay to get the car serviced at REN so we could have a way to commute to work in future and everything else you use a car for. This place that also sells cars wanted to purchase the vehicle with damged engine for 400.00 and fix, or charge us over $2,500.00 to have a rebuilt and refurbished engine as their diagonostic including labor. We chose to have it fixed as you well know it's expensive however should have at least a 1 year warranty on their work as no one in their right mind would ever pay this much money without warranty of at least 1 year. The news that is what we had to do was horrifying as it's one of the most expensive issues that can go wrong with car, however it needed to be done.

After having the vehicle for 6 months after REN serviced it, it worked fine for 6 months only before the car went exactly the same way ( had all proper oil change jobs done in the 6 months ) and it smoked and no longer worked and we had to pay for a tow in Natick Mall area days before Christmas ofcourse to have it go back to where it came from, yours truly good old REN Motors in Whitinsville MA. Now anyone who pays top dollar to have a used car work again with replacing engine and 6 months later, wouldn't you bring back to same place?

Going back in time when we first picked up the vehicle after being serviced we arrived there on a Saturday to pick it up as they charged my father in law on his credit card for payment before doing the job. When my father in law went there with myself it appeared they were closed or no one was there. We saw our car parked in rear of facility with keys on seat of car and unlocked and ready to drive as REN sated via phone it was ready to go. However we looked everywhere for a receipt including the glove compartment as keys were only on passenger seat, and they did not leave the receipt in car, just keys. We were unsuccessful getting a receipt asking several occassions for one by contacting Robert at REN via phone. One time Robert said he would have to dig a receipt up for us as he could not find one for us and they never called us back. This of course over that period of time never took place and we were ignored. I mean they got their money so a customer wanting their receipt is not all that important to them, just us.

Now here is the root of our problem today which is my opinion, if you can just picture this. I mean their is nothing more irritating then a business who just smiles and acts nice to get paid money, and then after gets deceitful and unresponsive even after wanting something as simple as a receipt. Long term business is not their goal. Kind of take their money, do a horrible job and they run or want more.

So, after the car was towed back to them for exact same problem. They would not even call us, so we called them. Then after a few days they said engine had trobles and they may try to seal it, as the head gasget was cracked. Wow, great job guys, 6 months and like maybe 3K miles and not even a basic 5 years and what we paid them over 2.5K for was doing the same again. They responded that they will attempt to seal gasget, sort of put a band aid on it if you will. We then reached out to the father in law to give him the news as we at least knew we had a 1 year warranty on the engine as was verbally stated, as we still had no receipt. Then after they tried to seal it, they were like all about how they think Staurns are reliable cars and how shocked they are, and then they said this " oh, we found your receipt in your glove compartment, and your engine only has a 30 day warranty on it and we can offer to replace it again half off this time". Can you believe how cheezy that is, that it took them 5 days to think about making up some receipt and putting it in our glove compartment as if we never looked in the empty glove compartment for 6 months. The only thing in glove compartment was the registration. If a receipt gets planted in their after asking for it, and they say we only have a 30 day warranty ( who has anyone work on their car for a 30 day warranty????? ) So, if they go that far to not take care of their customer for more money, I mean how can they even live with themselves as to doing this. Anyone who goes as far as put in some receipt when you think you have a 1 year warranty and to place one in our car and say it's 30 days is pure "CheezzY".

We have not responded as of yet as our car has been there 2 weeks now. As our father in law is going to pay them a visit this week to discuss as it appears they rather have us take them to court.

Is their anyone in the United States of America who would pay almost 3K on a engine replacement with only a 30 day warranty?

I will keep you posted on this matter weeks ahead, I just do not want anyone else to get burned by this. If you would ask them about this story what good would that do when your response would be nothing different then getting a receipt planted in your car, and wanting more money for the exact same problem. If I get an engine replaced and it's done right, you should be able to take care of your car properly and hold on to it for at least lets say 2 years or more other then 6 months.

This is still a pending situation, more to continue as the Saturn is still just sitting there in their shop.
