Well to start off, we had rented a 60' tv from them about 7 years ago, and loved the service. Once the remote broke and they brought us a new one. And even hooked up my DVD player and cable box to the tv. I sent it back because I was moving in with my sister and she had a big tv already. So I contacted them about 2 years ago for a washer and dryer and a kitchen table. When I first got the stuff from them they knew that I didn't have a car and would call in with a credit card payment over the phone. I did this for several months.
They also knew that I got paid on Mondays because my company had to figure up the sales the week before for the payment processing. So I would go cash my check and call them up usually right away. This went on for several months with no problems. Then in July of last year I called them and said I know that I have a couple extra days because sometimes I would call in and pay 100 instead of the 89 for the w/d and kitchen table. And said that I got hurt on the job and wasn't going to be able to pay them till Thursday and that was fine. I had like 7 days paid in advance. Then comes August and I get hit in the head by a fork lift and get rushed to the hospital on Monday and was rushed into surgery and blah blah blah. So my mom called and said that I would pay the week on Friday or so. It wasn't major surgery but it was surgery.
So that Friday I called in and made the payment. This is where the trouble started. The next week I got a call on Saturday to let me know the units were up for renewal on Monday, and I said yeah I know I will call in the payment on Monday when I got paid. I did like I always do and got my paycheck at noon and called them and paid it. Again that saturday I got a call to remind me it was due on Monday and I said "fine whatever. And paid as normal on Monday. Then they said they can't take a credit card over the phone because it costs them to much money and said that if I wanted to make a payment with a credit card over the phone they would have to charge me 2 dollars processing. My rental would have been paid off on either the 17th of January or 18th, And on January 6th they came to my house to pick their merchandise.
It was a Saturday and they said I was several weeks behind. I tried to show them on my credit card reports where I had paid them the week before. And had been paying them on time except the 2 times I didn't pay them, but was told I have a weeks balance and could be late a couple days. He said they never take payments on Monday and every time that I had paid on Monday I was actually due on Saturday, bear in mind I had paid on Monday for almost 2 years. So I said show me where it says I owe that money and of course he didn't have that paper with him. So I called the store and spoke to a manager and was told that I owe almost 400 dollars because the billing was messed up.
I was only able to get a receipt from the actual store a couple of times but knew it had been paid by looking at the debits from my credit card. So after holding off the goons from RAC for about 20 minutes they started to call the police, or pretend to, and I let them in my house and they removed their property. Then to top it off. This month my mom went to a different RAC and inquired about a Sofa, and didn't sign anything and never received anything and received a phone call on monday letting her know her rental agreement is pass due.
Where is the justice with this company. I have on several occasions sent them business, my brother, my sister, my cousins, and At one time rented a tv, a computer, a w/d, and the kitchen table from them. And when the time comes for me to own it there is billing problems and I owe them money. I have heard this claim from several people that they almost get their stuff paid for and come to find out something wasn't billed right. But of course it is never RAC fault.
