I know about RAC they are no good!! They work you hard and you have to work a mandated 48 hrs a week when you first start and dont pay you o/t when you are promoted to I/O you then have to work mandated 50 hrs. But anyway, I was injured on the job while doing inventory, a bunch of boxes of furniture stacked high fell on me. I was rushed out with an ambulance and was on disability for a few months. My doctor told me I could go back but limited to 15 lbs, I went back and had to go back out because I couldnt handle the work load and my back started up again, which caused me to go back out, later on I was fired from the Market Mgr. Darlena Towns who has since relocated to GA RAC. Hope this was helpful. There is also alot of fraud that goes on in there with the employees stealing merchandise and taking customers payments and pocketing the money, they give the customer free time to cover their tracks, sometimes they dont even do that they just keep the money. Customers should also know it is mandatory that RAC makes 4x's the RV (retail value) price in order for something to be considered a profit.

The laws are very complicated with this sort of thing. Pregnancy and the work place is not something that is supposed to be discriminated against, however a lot of employers , not just RAC find some way of getting away with it. Remember, RAC has "Corporate" attorney's that are hired to cover their butts in these exact situations. As for you not being able to do the functions of your job because of the weight restrictions? Please keep in mind that in the Job description for employees there are no exact numbers when it says that you have to lift- Loop holes are everywhere for everyone. Also, if a company has such a policy about pregnancy, then doesn't it seem redundant to offer such a thing as "Maternity leave?" As if RAC really believes that any OB wouldn't put a weight restriction on all pregnant women. I have yet to meet a women who hasn't been told by her OB to lay off on the lifting of things twice her own body weight!!! RAC offers Maternity leave, but really has no intentions on granting this to anyone. Fight the good cause if you can, because as much as employees of RAC and others want to say that all pregnant women who have been "laid off" for a reason, they are wrong. They're are a lot of attorneys who aren't afraid to go up against a Corporate company, find one and fight it. Don't expect the money aspect of this to pay off either, because the money means nothing if women keep having to struggle with companies like this for years to come. There is a lesson to be learned here by the company and that would be the best fight. Also, you might do your homework and interview a few Ob's around your area, get a public poll of how many women patients of their's don't get some kind of restriction like this. An attorney is always interested in these facts. Take care, everything always works out the way it should, just keep your eyes and ears open.

The OP cannot fulfill her obligations for employment due to the pregnancy, or not. She must be able to lift more than 25 lbs in order to holdthe job. She cannot, so she cannot keep the job, which belongs to the employer at all times. There is no lawsuit here. She recieved unemployment, and that ran out. RAC may have been a bad employer to work for, but they did nothing illegal. I find it funny the OP complains about creditors hounding her for their money. The exact same behaviour people complain about RAC for.

And I'm not completely out of them, after a divorce...but my previous post happened in 1996. I own my home and went through a divorce and I have my lovley 1 child. I still juggle the bills, but my mom is an attorney, she can help you with a free consultation. Maybe I can send some baby clothes, my little one is 11. She's 5'3" , so maybe not so little anymore. I have lots of toddler clothes. -Tracy :) (((ROR redacted))) CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

You cannot be discriminated against because you are pregnant. Not at any time. Even a prospective employer in an interview isn't allowed to ask, let alone take you off of your job when you become pregnant during it! I was pregnant when I applied for a job in the spring of 1996. I wanted to work close to where I was living and my husband was driving to his work, so I applied to 'day a*s't manager' at an ice cream stand near the house. It was 3 blocks away. I was overqualified, but it was a perfect fit. I knew that ice cream stands in the Buffalo area normally close in September. My due date was September 19th. Around July, it became apparent that I was pregnant. My boss mentioned it to me. Not accusigly, though, he knows the laws. I said I was and he said that the season has been slow anyway, that they would close around the 10th of September to coincide whith when I needed to stop working in order rest. The man who delivered the dairy products (almost everything), started to refuse to let me wheel or lift anyting into the freezer. We closed for the season on September the 12th. I applied for unemployment. I live in NY and unemployment directed me to apply for disability, because I was pregnant. It was approved. It was still about 2/3 of what I was making and that figure wasn't a lot to begin with, but it was something. A lot of people on these forums already know that RAC is NUTS, in regard to both their employees and their customers. You NEED to file a lawsuit.
