Just wanted to let people know how Mike of Republic 4x4 does business. After my last contact with him Spring 06, I filed a dispute with Citibank Mastercard. They found in my favor and removed the charges from my account (he never bothered to respond to their inquiries, he knew what he was going to do). My husband and I switched vehicles for a few months and when I started driving my Jeep to work again, in less than a week in Sept 06, my vehicle was illegally repossessed by Republic 4x4. He had made a copy of my key when my Jeep was in his possession and used it to steal my vehicle from my work place! According to the law, (which I discovered after the fact), he must send letters of his intent to repossess by certified mail. I received my one and only certified letter which contained his notification of accomplished reposession. Then he had the nerve to charge $800 in collection and repossession fees! The legal system was appalling. I contacted the Littleton Police Department and they tell me he notified them of the repo and it is a civil matter and they refused to help me. If you want to repo a vehicle, they obviously require no paperwork backing up claims of right to repossess or even require that you show that you have followed proper procedure. I contacted the Arapahoe County District Attorney, I contacted the Attorney General's office, which created the Motor Vehicle Repair Act of Colorado. What good is this act if they won't enforce it and leave it up to the victim to do it? Why is this man still in business? Why is he not in jail? He is a criminal! I hope others come forward, especially if their car was stolen too, and contact these agencies. By the way, less than 30k miles later, my clutch is making noise. So let's see, refurbished manifold when I paid for new, used brake parts when I paid for new, bad clutch/installation, swapped out my oil pan for one that didn't fit right so it would eventually leak so he could hopefully get more business out of me and then on top of it, stole my car. Again, why is this man still walking the streets?
