Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
These folks are picking people's names off internet job boards they are obviously doing searches, not just picking up public information. They start out by sending you an e-mail :We have noticed your on line resume. Your profile is similar to many of our successful clients. We work only with professionals motivated to find something better. We make job searches more efficient and productive. If you are committed to advancing your career, then we can schedule a confidential interview to further evaluate your skills and experience. If you're qualified, we can help you find the position you want at the income you deserve. Send your response to [email protected].. If we believe that we can help you, our local office will be in contact with you shortly to schedule a discreet in-depth interview. Sincerely, Lori Smith, Executive Specialist

Note that the real company name is not identified.

I responded asking for more information since I figured this was some type of pay us and we help you fix your career path garbage deal. The response was to receive a telephone call two days later from a Ms. Walker, stating she was with RMC and setting appointments for Lori, in response to resumes submitted to them. (I never sent them a resume; they picked it up by doing searches on one of two sites where my info is set only for reveal on paid employer searches.)

When I tried to verify any actual job, she could not answer, only said they wanted to meet with me. A Google search quickly lead me to RMC International. My next search was for complaints, lucky for me as armed with the pages of complaints for this company, I immediately called and canceled my appointment.

Job hunters beware of these places (see Global Career Management and GCM for more information), they are not breaking any laws IF you sign their contract! If you read the contracts very carefully, they never, ever promise to help you find a job nor do a good job defining the career coaching/support you will receive. It is the scam of a life time ONLY if you don't sign a contract and they still get you to give them your money!

Therefore, Unless you want someone to charge you for a very expensive resume rewrite and pats on the head, run, hang-up, round-file and generally ignore any communications with these folks! You are better off to employ a reall resume writer for a few hundred bucks and use sites such as Linked-in to find inside connections to help you expand your network.
