Ronnie Mellen abuses her employees, bleeds her customers, and swindles everyone from dry cleaners to dentists. The company does not make a profit, and I heard speculation that might be being used as a tax break. Whatever it is, SBLS serves no real purpose other than to have an outlet for one of the most sadistic people I have ever had the displeasure to meet and work under. If you have reached this page seeking more information and/or are considering being employed there, congratulations. Do not work there if you value your soul.

I'm not acquainted with the author of the report at all, but what they are reporting is not far from the truth. I wouldn't say that she 'swindles everyone', but she certainly has a long list of people from all walks of life who will be happy to see the truth about her exposed. I can only imagine that anyone who is coming to her defense here has been asked to do so by Ronnie herself, but I can't rule out the possibility that there are some people who have had positive experiences working for her. Some people have found careers through their experience in SBLS and they may defend her out of a sense of gratitude, loyalty, or fear, but in the clear light of day, I think that most people would agree it would be a better world if people who are capable of treating others this way were not allowed to ever be an employer.

Whether or not you think my statements are "farfetched," they are all from personal experience. And there are plenty of other ways to get into the film industry without going through a lesser-known-Devil-Wears-Prada facsimile. When I worked there, the turnover rate at that place was like 1 new person every two weeks (not an exaggeration), and that's not because they were all (or any of them) moving "up." I'm glad I haven't come across that place again, I'm extremely glad to be rid of that hell, and I think it's wonderful that this site comes up in a google search, as curious youth need to beware.

First of all, maybe change your checkoffs....rather than "ex-employee" give the opportunity to choose, former employee.....otherwise it appears that a former employee of this company is only "ex".
When I worked for SB Location Services and Ronnie Mellen, I found her to be very passionate about finding locations, film library, photography, etc. You have to realize that this is California, the work gets busy in the film industry, and I always felt that I had the opportunity to learn something new....Ronnie gave me a chance to try something new. The work can be exhausting, but you can use the opportunity to build your career, young people especially.
I believe anyone who uses this venue to also toss in other people such as "dentist", "dry cleaners" is a bit far fetched.
