Second Opportunity Financial Bait & Switch On Personal Loan deposit Internet
I saw their ad listed in Newsday and thought hey - if they advertise there they certianly must be reputable.
On tuesday 6-24 I sent through an application online for a personal loan.
They contacted me Thursday 6-26 to say it was approved on the conditon of a security deposit of $763.64 broekn down into 2 payments. Once they receive the first via Western Union they would then release half the funds to me from which I would pay the other premium.
I did the payment, the money was picked up and then when I asked for the tracking number of my check I was told that the lender didn't agree to the half payment and I needed to pay it all.
Classic bait & switch after speaking with a supervisor I was told that I can get my money back in 7-21 days, UNACCEPTABLE ! I have filed a fraud report with Western Union, My Bank and with the NYS State Attorney Generals Office. Western Union said to file a police report which I will do tomorrow.
Bottom Line STAY AWAY from them they are crooks!!!1

Marci, it's good that you didn't send them all of the money. I'm about to say something harsh to you but KISS YOUR MONEY GOODBYE. The reason these crooks use Western Union is because there is no recourse for you to get your money back that way. Once it's picked up (by someone with a fake ID) it's given to them as cash and you'll never see them again! (or be able to track the person). No reputable company will every ask you to send money western union (aside from maybe the light company who have will that as an 'option' not 'only acceptable method'. Chalk it up as a $350 lesson in life that will save you thousands of dollars in the future. Please see my rip off report on this company. Luckily I was able to figure them out before I sent in any money. They said they were going to deposit $150,000 into my account for a MORTGAGE. That's not how mortgages work! They are just cheating people out of money! Every time I do business on the internet I always check them out here first. If it checks out OK I check out the domain name through godaddy. I do a whois search and it will say when the website was created. If it was created on 6-14-08 like their website was and it's now 6-28-08, that's a MAJOR red flag! If they've been in business for years I'd STILL do a little more research anyway! I know the economy is bad and money is general is not good but what do you need a personal loan for anyway? Credit is the most evil thing in the world. It's basically slavery. They give you $1000 and you pay back $3000 so for the next 2 years you are working to pay back the interest. That's why they send you credit cards when you are 18, so they can get you in debt and paying back interest for the rest of your life. You might as well just walk into a New York City subway in the middle of the night with a wad of cash in your hands. Credit should only be used for things that appreciate.. i.e. a house. A car kind of borders on the line because on one hand you need one, on the other you lose 20% of the value as soon as you drive it off the lot! A simple rule is.. if you don't have the money for it, YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT! If you really want to know about credit a great film to watch (for free on youtube or google video) is America: From Freedom To Fascism or Zeitgeist: The Movie (it's a three part movie, you might want to add the keyword "Federal Reserve" in your search) Well, now they have 2 rip off reports. I'm sure they'll be changing their names soon and pulling the same old scam! Bottom line. NEVER SEND MONEY WESTERN UNION. No reputable company uses WESTERN UNION! That should be your first BIG RED FLAG!
