Second To None Help Inner City Kids Scam Knoxville Tennessee
This scam has made it to Knoxville, TN. Two men in shirts and ties came to my door as I was carrying in groceries. I never open the door to anyone selling anything, but got corned as I was walking back out to the car.
It is a good story, quite believeable, until they pulled out their wrinkled ink stained sign up sheet. When I questioned where the home office was, he said Golden, CO. I then asked where the local office was and got a "well just a couple streets down." That's when the story kind of fell apart. I'll admit they were persuasive with the whole "give us a chance, we grew up in the inner city, and we're trying to make a better life for ourselves." These were not however not my definition of "young adults." One was probably mid 20s and the other closer to 40.
They did scare me when I questioned him about the location, he replied, "Do you have a computer" and moved as if to come into the house. I'll definitely be letting my neighbors know to watch out. And the other reports in posts of burgleries after they've come through concerns me too. I'm hoping I blocked the door enough that while I was talking to one the other wasn't casing the house.
