I have seen this scam too, but I recognized it for what it was. I also when to their website and they are aware that someone is conducting this scam in their name! Once again, it is not the ShoppingAce company that is sending these mailer, but someone posing as them! If you go to their site there is a warning on the front page that says: ------------ Important Update: New Mystery Shopping Scam Alert We have become a victim of mail fraud and do not want any of you to become victims too! A group of people have begun illegally sending out mass mailers claiming to be from ShoppingAce. They are attempting to scam unsuspecting victims and steal their money. If you have received anything in the mail claiming to be from ShoppingAce then please protect yourself and disregard it immediately. We will only use support tickets and email for correspondence and assignment notifications. Find out more about this scam here. ------------ And clicking on the link leads here: shoppingace.com/alert.html Hopefully this helps protect some people and also clears the real company's name :)

This is a common scam, and unfortunately it will be difficult to get your money back. When you receive an offer such as this, ask yourself these questions: 1. Where did they get my name from? Did I ask to do this? 2. Call the issuer of the check (and not from the number on the check since they usually change this to be themselves) and see if it's valid 3. Go online and search the company. See if they are legit or if there is issues with the company 4. Look at the package. Does it appear to be a form letter and package? Does it look similar to other "offers" such as Publishers clearinghouse? I'm sorry you are out the money, but hopefully you've learned a valuable lesson.
