Smart Moving overcharging and being deceptive in quote Pembroke Pines Florida
Julia -- the woman we spoke with was very personable and quick to respond to our questions. However, we feel she was very deceptive and unclear about the procedures of determining inventory and quotes.
A man who said he was the owner came to my house to take an "inventory". This was apparently her father and he had a VERY THICK accent which was hard to understand. The quote he gave me was very high and when I asked him why it was so high, he said "there is a 2,000 lb. minimum". There is NO WAY my items are even close to 2,000lbs and there was NEVER a minimum requirement of weight that Julia had mentioned. When I emailed her about it she said that "it doesn't matter about the weight it matters about the space it takes up in the truck".... This is clearly a lie and sounds like a way to back out of giving me an UNFAIR quote.
Also -- he was trying to charge me $200 extra to move my 37" HDTV which SLIDES OFF the wall!!!! This is something I could do myself and was not offered as an option. In fact, they weren't interested in working with their original price in a FAIR manner, only in taking the consumers money as much as they could, or for them, the deal deal is off.
They are sneaky and I wouldn't trust any quote that they gave you. Be sure to read the reviews about them on the internet and do the homework yourself about the general idea of what a fair price is for your move!
