I booked flights for my husband and myself when his sister passed away. Smartfares sent me a confirmation email the same day,and I was (I thought) ready to go.

The day prior to our flight,I had not been charged for the airfare,nor had I received my etickerts,so I chatted online with a representative from Smartfares who told me I booked a flight for next year not tomorrow! I was upset and said,no I have the email and confirmation number here.He still said I did not book it correctly.

I called the toll free number for Smartfares and spoke to several different agents and finalyy was able to verify my flight for the next day. They aoplogized for the mix up and sent me an email with my flight information.

I got to the airport the next morning and could not use the airline kiosk to log in,so went to the ticket counrt.

There was NO flight booked for my husband and I!! They said this happens frequently with Smartfares! They said people get confirmation but Smartfares does not actually purchase tickets for the.! I was horrified! Leaving for a funeral and no tickets!

American Airlines was gracious enough to get us seats on the flight and discount them to the price shown on my bogus email from Smartfares. They saved the day!

I have called and chatted online with Smartfares and they claim that this is not their fault,that somehow I didn't book correctly! Amazing,since THEY sent ME a confirmation.

Never again will I do business with these scammers.
