Don't be fooled by SPCP marketing. SPCP is a clique, not a moral organization. SPCP formed their clique so they could charge HUGE fees for their classes. SPCP trainers teach the poorest kind of fundamental training and they are WAY too expensive for what they provide. There is not enough hands on training and they graduate people even when they cannot do procedures very well. SPCP conventions are just as bad. They do not provide hands on training and they charge WAY too much to hear the same people in their clique. I would never recommend them. I went to them when I was new and I didn't know there were much better trainers, much better programs at much more affordable rates. I am posting this anonymous because I don't want to be condemned like the SPCP does to other people who don't belong to their clique.

The Society named is the largest organization serving the permanent cosmetic industry for 20 years and the most respected organization with high code of ethics.
In specific rebuttal, I take total offense to the outlandish and untrue comments made by this "anonymous" person. As a trainer member and an active member of SPCP for nearly ten years, I take pride in the great training initially received and am especially thankful for the incredible continued education received through their conventions and conferences on an annual basis.
The Society advocates safe practicing and excellent education. As for "hands on" training, in compliance with OSHA regulations the SPCP does not offer "live procedures" at conventions or conferences so as to avoid any issues of infection, cross contamination, etc. "Hands on" training is only done by trainer members at their own facilities while conducting a training class and following OSHA sanitation and sterilization regulations.
The writer of this malicious attack on the Society may have a personal vendetta with an individual for some reason not divulged in her remarks and is taking her frustration out on the organization. The writer's comments are childish, petty, untrue and clearly the intent is to discourage permanent cosmetic technicians to be involved.

While I understand that some individuals do have an occasional complaint about organizations or training, this statement from anon455 sounds as though its sole intent is to criticize without personal knowledge. I am a personal witness to the upstanding, fair, and morally just operation of the Society. The fees for the Conventions and Conferences are so reasonable and packed with a wealth of information.
To address some of the specific comments let me say that the Society has always lead the path to increased fundamental training and has set the highest standards for Trainers to follow. There are minimum procedures that must be performed to pass the fundamental level. The Society has always felt that performing hands on procedures in an auditorium type setting is an unsafe practice, therefore Continuing education at Conventions and Conferences is provided through video, Powerpoint presentations, and other safe formats. The hands on application is reserved for Health Department approved locations, with the proper sharp disposal containers, and other protocols being met.
I look forward to meeting and introducing myself to any new or relatively new individual who chooses to attend one of our events. As for me personally, I would not be the successful technician I am today without the Society. I have grown well beyond my fundamental years and I owe it largely to the Society. Even at the beginning of my career when I attended my first event, the other attendees were so warm and welcoming. I was able to ask questions and meet others to network throughout the year when new challenges would arrive. If you look up clique in the dictionary its definition is: exclusive group of people.
Well, then I must agree with anon455, the Society is an exclusive group of people! They are the exclusive professionals who choose to grow in their passion and craft, to continue to learn, and network, and who strive to be the best they can be in the field of Permanent Cosmetics. But we welcome all who want to participate in this Exclusive Group of Professionals.

While the Internet provides ample opportunities for networking and research, on the dark side it also provides for anonymous cowardly insults and damage and, in this instance, directed toward an institution that exists for the purpose of raising standards in the permanent cosmetic industry and furthering the educational credits of their members.
The Society named is the oldest and largest organization serving its members for twenty years. The writer is obviously not familiar with it, based on the text offered, and while difficult to glean purpose, it is clear the behavior is that of one who has no affiliation.
In specific rebuttal - The Society was not formed as a clique so they could charge huge fees for their classes. This is a childish and pointless statement. As an entity, it does not give classes, their trainer members do. The SPCP holds two events per year, a conference in September, and a convention in March for which there is one fee charged to all attendees.
Trainer members are lauded as being highly credentialed, with the SPCP requiring specific minimum class hours, subjects that must be taught, and specific number of hands-on to be performed in a fundamental class. Their trainer members also must have a minimum of five years of industry experience, have CPCP credentials, and attend the Train the Trainer class before being considered as a trainer member. The Society does not condemn others who are not members and in fact, offers the CPCP credentialing examination to those who are not members. They also insist on any legislation that speaks to organizational activity, to include other permanent cosmetic organizations so that all technicians may benefit.
The SPCP Board of Directors is open to any unethical behavior and investigates any report to maintain its high standards. If the writer truly needed a specific problem resolved, he or she would have used this methodology as opposed to attempting to embarrass and cause harm to its members. The person writing this uneducated review obviously had no other intent but to discourage SPCP membership, event attendance, and to cause loss of income to its trainer members.
