Since April I had been on several assignments with Staffing Now.  Mind you that every job that I went on had a very high turnover rate.  However, I chose to stick it out on all jobs and had every intention on completing all jobs that I felt comfortable and confident enough on.

But there was one assignment in particular that was not a good fit for me so on Friday August 21, 2009 I went to work for Laz Parking in Chicago.  I was scheduled to work from 8am-5pm and Sat. & Sun. 7am-3pm.  I met with the supervisor (which unfortunately I dont remember his name) and met my trainer Victoria whom I worked with for the majority of the day.  The job consisted of monitoring three computer screens while answering phones for incoming calls from the technicians.  As a side note, I learned on the job that the dispatchers did not receive breaks or lunches for even 8 hour shifts.

My sole responsibility was to look for red & yellow light issues and record them on the Log Sheet.   Then Open the call in Canvas and pull from a list of available associates to dispatch to the service call.  I then had to enter the data into their Canvas website and email the city if we were to be more than 30 minutes to respond to the Red Light service call. After working the dispatch center on my own with Victoria supervising the Supervisor came over and asked how I was doing and my response was that I wasnt very confident that I wasnt sure that I was capable of running the dispatch center all on my own for the upcoming weekend.  His response was, Oh youll be fine.  At this point I felt very nervous and lacked confidence.

I completed my training shift a little after 5pm due to catching up from getting swamped with all the work and incoming dispatch calls. I left the facility and tried to contact my Staffing Now office but they were closed already.  So the next day I was still very uncomfortable with the job and felt that I was not qualified or fully trained to operate the dispatch center alone all weekend.

My Staffing Now office was closed for the weekend and I did not have a contact number to reach a live person to talk to at LAZ Parking about the job situation.  So rather than just not show up to the job site I decided to go in at my scheduled time 7am and just explain in person that I really liked the job but was still very uncomfortable and believed that they should replace me with a more seasoned associate.  I met with Hector (to the best of my knowledge was his name) and apologized and explained that I was not the qualified candidate for the job and I wished it would have worked out but I strongly felt that I was completely unfit.

I had worked for LAZ in the past through Staffing Now and when called about the new assignment I was told by a representative from Staffing Now that the assignment would be very similar to what I did in the past with LAZ.  The 2 separate occasions that I worked for them were very different.  I will say that the second assignment with LAZ was very challenging.

After I left on Saturday I called Katie Grobmeyer who was normally my person of contact from the office and I had found her cell phone number in my phone and normally would have called her on Friday but I only rarely used that number due to it being a personal cell phone.  (And have hardly spoken to her directly when I called her at the office and on her cell)

I also NEVER intended to jeopardize my employment with Staffing Now!
