My husband and I had a much better experience with Summit than Richard did. We moved from Fort Myers FL to Washington DC at the end of December 2004. We packed all our own boxes, but the movers packed the large TV and wrapped the furniture. We had no problems at all with the men that packed the van (all nice Israeli men that spoke good English). The minor damage our furniture incurred seemed to happen during the unloading at our new apartment in DC. The movers that arrived with our furniture were not the same folks that had packed it, and seemed to be less skilled or careful. The biggest problem was that they broke our entertainment center- the upper half separated from the bottom cabinet while they were carrying it up the stairs. However, we had knowingly declined the additional insurance, and it was worth making a claim for the 60 cents/ pound that we would be entitled to. (We've been able to balance the top of the entertainment center on the bottom cabinet for the last 4 years; it looks a little wonky but it functions.) The TV also suffered cosmetic damage (scarring of the plastic) but it works just fine. One major plus: the van arrived with our belongings only 2.5 days after we packed it. We had absolutely no problems arranging delivery, and most of our things arrived with no damage (cosmetic or otherwise). I wish the employee that commented on how "fake" complaints were ruining the company's reputation could be more constructive in dealing with those complaints. However, I still have a positive impression of the moving experience, the value for the money, and the reliability of the initial estimate.
