I went in to Sunrise Salon last Thursday for an appointment. I arrived 15 minutes early and was told my stylist, Jessica, was running late. Her tardiness caused me to miss a subsequent makeup appointment for later that night before my big event. If I can make it on time and am paying you, you should make it on time as well. I am a cancer patient, and my hair is very important to me, as what little there is of it is grow out from radiation. I explained, very specifically, what I wanted it to look like, and got it cut and colored.
After one wash, the color has begun to fade unevenly. The cut is so bad that friends have commented my hair looks much worse than when I went in. It is completely not what I asked for, and when I expressed how much I did not like it and began crying, she started cutting even more off. It is uneven in areas by several inches and much, much shorter than I asked. My partner called the salon three times in the last week, and was told messages would be left for the owner, and that he was the only one who could do anything, and would call back.
He repeatedly never addressed the issue. My partner went up there today, to try to recoup our $100 loss so I could get my hair redone, and the owner himself was very unprofessional. He stated the stylist was the only one who could issue a refund, and refused to do anything about it whatsoever. I was instructed to waste MORE time and money and come to the salon again to speak with her personally. He said he has a day job and that this really isn't his problem. I have never been to a more unprofessional salon in my life. At this point, whether the refunds the money or not is not the issue.
The issue is that even though he cannot manage to handle his business, I bet he will leave a nasty comment on this review, as he's done on others. That's just sad. Pathetic excuse for a salon. Will be contacting Better Business Bureau, licensing boards, permitting office, and every review site there is. It is NOT OK to chop off a cancer patient's hair against their will and then expect them to jump through hoops and still nothing is done. Disgusting. My hair looks masculine and terrible. I can send you before and after photos if you like. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS PLACE. Totally worth the drive into Portland if you don't want to leave in tears!

So you looked good enough for you to attend your "Big Event" it wasnt until AFTER the event was over and you washed you hair that the color came out. Sounds MORE like youre just mad that your hair color "faded" then that did a bad job. I feel youre OVER EXAGERATTING the situation in order to play a better victim. Besides, ITS JUST HAIR!! IT WILL GROW BACK!!!! Im thinking due to your "cancer" and "chemo" that you are just being over sensative about the issue. Since you cant lash out a CANCER you take ANY chance to lash out at anyone you can.
Either way, they wont be giving you a refund mainly because you left HAPPY. Its only AFTER you left and attended your big event, that you go back demanding a refund. I am disturbed at the ease in which you OVER ESTIMATE the value of YOUR time yet UNDERVALUE everyone elses. Obviously YOU dont know how to "Do Hair" or you would have. The sylists are SKILLED and you needed those skills to attend your event. Once it is over, you then go back demanding a refund. Well they just cant do it. THEY are not responsible for your hair AFTER you leave. Ok so your color ran, get over it. You didnt go there to have them perform this color addition because it was a medically nessasary reason. No you went there because YOU had an event YOU wished to look your best for.
You cannot expect them to give you your way after the fact. Business doesnt work that way. While Im sure in your mind you have evey justification in demanding a refund, the real world doesnt live IN YOUR MIND. If you feel that strongly about them, then just dont go back to them again. By demanding a refund for something OUTSIDE of thier control, you ARE STEALING. YOU may not think so because you have rationalized and justified your action to yourself. Bur there is a reality here. Obviously YOU have enough money to go to a SKILLED hairstylist. The stylist themselves DO NOT. They work for a wage and tips. When you go in demanding a refund after the fact all you are doing is disconting the work that allowed you to attend YOUR event and stealing from the pockets of the very same stylists that you will use in the future. And make no mistake, the stylists talk as much as you do. So you would be robbing them of the work they did for you and you would be putting yourself in danger of some VERY bad haircuts later because even if you never went back to that salon, you WOULD run into other stylists that know them and may be friends with them.
I understand how a bad haircut can ruin your day. But ITS JUST A HAIRCUT!!!! Given YOUR circumstances with your fight with cancer, THIS is a non issue. RELAX!!! IT WILL GROW BACK!!!! Just dont go back and problem solved.
Also this concerned me a bit.....
Her tardiness caused me to miss a subsequent makeup appointment for later that night before my big event.
How can you sit there and blame the sylists for YOU being late to YOUR make up appointment LATER THAT NIGHT? You could have been held up by traffic lights and THAT would have had MORE of a impact then the stylists "tardiness". You really show a self important streak here. You AINT the principle. YOU AINT thier mother. YOU AINT THIER BOSS!!! You have passed JUDGMENT on this person and it wasnt your place to do so. There were MANY other factors that would have made you late later that evening to your make up appointment OTHER then that person being "Tardy". Here is another example of the OVER EXAGERATION the American COnsumer uses to make them selves out to be a better victim.

Ok, so the stylist wasn't there when you arrived, but you admit you were 15 minutes early anyway. Exactly how long did you have to wait (not factoring in the aforementioned 15 minutes). You seem kinda quick to judge. In a perfect world, no one would ever be tardy, but we don't live in a perfect world. There are many excusable and unavoidable reasons a person can be late: traffic, an accident on the roads, car trouble, they got stopped by the police, there was a holdup in the line when they stopped to get an important med... I can think of A LOT of valid reasons (reasons, not excuses) but I think you get the drift. As far as your hair, I completely sympathize with being on the receiving end of a bad haircut, I think we have all been there and I can understand why you would feel extra senstive about it, I hope that you receive a desired resolution with this. Good luck in all matters.
