I sent $25.00 to Sweepstakes Clearinghouse and a voucher for $400.00 toward a lay-a-way plan for an Omni 2 12mp Max Digicam set on 8-28-07 (they posted on 8-31-07).This left a balance of $147.76 . I received a Statement of Lay-a-way and they were requesting a min. pay amount of $10 due 9-18-07.

My daughter thought I shouldn't do this and she would get me a camera elsewhere. I called on 9-12-07 to cancel my order and requested my $25 to be refunded. I was told that I could not have a refund unless I paid the full amount and then requested a refund! This didn't make sense to me.

As I was trying to understand this unjust concept, the rep. said in a condescending tone as if reprimanding a young mischievous child, "You're not listening to me. I'm trying to work this out with you!". I then became quite angered.

I had informed her that I could even cancel a lay-a-way plan and receive a full refund at Walmart; she rebuttled with a snide remark stating that this was not Walmart, it was, in fact, Sweepstakes Clearinghouse. I'm curious as to what made her think that I was not aware of who I was corresponding with!

Once more I was informed that I could not receive my down-payment, I must first purchase another product from this company for $25.00 and, yet again, request a refund for my money. How many times must I go through this process? How many times will they withold my hard earned money from me?

I asked the representative if she would personally be happy with this situation. She regained her condescending tone, and stated that SHE would not have, in a word, been so stupid and SHE would have been aware of what she signed up for; because, evidently the entire process that I'm currently undergoing in printed out on the lay-away voucher. My thoughts concern the matter of where exactly these words are printed and why I was unable to see where they were so obviously written.

I hung up on her. I could not handle her demeaning attitude, and the frustration of lost money any longer.

I am a 55 year old disabled woman who only lives on SSI. I ordered the Omni digicam and two other idems as well. I paid off the camera on the 31st of August and received the camera on the 11th of this month. So far I have had no problems at all with this company. I have seen no rip off from them. I have kept a careful watch online on my accounts. They have kept accurant account of my payments as well. I have also contacted them by phone several times as well. People need to understand that ALL companies have problems at times and we as consumers need to not jump the gun, (so to speak), and keep in contact with any company that we order from until we receive that products that we order as I have done. Once again, I am pleased with the camera that I ordered from them and have had no problems with the company so far. I still have two other products that have been paid off and am waiting for them to arrive. I will keep everyone posted here as to when I receive the other products and if I am satisfied with them.
