Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
The IRS says they have deposited the money.  When you contact SSBT they say contact Taxact/Taxbrain.  When you contact the tax service they say contact the bank, which is SSBT/Metabank/PETZ.

What they stated is exactly what has happened to me.

The sad part is I have used this tax service for 6 years, and have never had any problems.

Now, it appears that the only thing i can do is wait til Feb. 3rd and have the irs trace it.  I am not sure how that is going to work, but it is unfortunate that companies can no longer give continuous customer service these days...

Shannon,

According to the title of your report, you were using TaxACT, but you indicated that the web address was www.taxbrain.com, not our site www.taxact.com.

You also indicated that your issue involved SSBT (although I think that you meant SBBT, Santa Barbara Bank and Trust), which is a bank that we do not work with. We use Republic Bank, located in Kentucky, to facilitate our services for deducting preparation fees from tax refunds.

TaxACT is wholly owned by 2nd Story Software, Inc.,  located in Cedar Rapids, IA. TaxBrain is wholly owned by Petz Enterprises, Inc.,  located in Tracy, CA.

If you used TaxBrain to prepare and file your taxes, then I can' be of much service, since I work for TaxACT.

Sincerely,
Greg Hollingsworth

Own up to the fact that YOUR COMPANY sent the wrong routing numbers...

YOUR COMPANY sent the routing information to YOUR BANK who sent it to the IRS.

Don't pass the blame to YOUR BANK, SBBT.  YOUR INFORMATION WAS WRONG FROM INCEPTION!

YOUR COMPANY owes everyone an apology and some sort of restitution for YOUR ERROR!

Be a reputable company and admit your mistake!

Shannon,

Here is a link to the IRS Refund Cycle chart (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p2043.pdf). The IRS releases funds based on when your return was accepted in their system. Remember, the dates on the chart are estimates provided by the IRS, the IRS does not guarantee that your refund will be deposited on those dates.

If you chose to have the fees for your tax return preparation deducted from your refund, the delivery of your refund is dependent on a couple of timing factors that have nothing to do with TaxACT.

When you select the option of having your preparation fees taken out of your refund the IRS does not release the funds directly to your account. The funds are released to Republic Bank (who handles this service for us). They process the return and deduct the preparation fees along with their fee for the service. After the fees have been deducted they put it in queue to be deposited into your account.

If the IRS does not release your funds to Republic Bank before a certain time of day, the end deposit may not make the cutoff time Republic Bank has in place for direct deposits, causing the deposit to be delayed until the next business day. If the refund cycle indicates a deposit on a Friday and it does not make the cutoff time, the refund will not be deposited until the following business day (which would be the following Monday).

You can check this website http://www.republictaxpayer.com to check on the status of your refund inside Republic Banks system. We cannot do this for you, as we have no visibility into RB's system.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Greg Hollingsworth
