I am a professional photographer that argeed to shoot a "gift in kind" job last spring 2002 involving the play "Little Women" for the acting Director Amy Barron. The shoot was $2400.00 of donated time and materials. She canceled the shoot (without leting me know)the first time after I spent over 4 hours driving and prepping equipment for the shoot. I finally shot the job and then I did not hear from her for over 2 months.

The agreement was to shoot it and sell the prints. Ms. Barron collected the money from the parents of the actors. She ordered the prints from me, yet did not present any funds for the printing of the photographes. After awhile I received a call from her wanting the prints. I stated that I did not receive any moneies and I cannot order prionts until I received funds. She sent me a check, but then she left a message on my voice mail that she was stopping payment on the check.

I informed her that I had ordered the prints from the photo lab and that I owed that money to the lab. The last I heard, she was in Kansas.

She ended up skiping town to Kanasas or points west, and I have many rolls of negatives and prints from this job.

I felt like Ms. Barron was trying to receive the prints without payment. She stated that I told her not to worry about money. That was true of the shoot, but not for the reprints. I also feel like she was putting words in my mouth that were never spoken.

At this point I will never do business with the growing stage and I would suggest to other photographers to be careful when dealing with them.
