I purchased a Toshiba 42 Inch Plasma Television Model #42DPC85 on Nov 19,2005 from a local store in Georgia, hhgregg. While watching the television, I heard a pop noise and the picture went black.however, sound still working.

I turned the television off and unplugged it waiting 5 minutes, still not working, I contacted the company hhgregg and told the technician what happened. he stated since my warranty had expired, he could refer me to an authorized technician. I paid $1,700.00 for this television and the part alone with labor would cost $850 to repair.

I called The Toshiba company and spoke with the supervisor Andrew and Customer representative Kay to see if there had been a recall. Both took all of my information, model, serial number, my telephone number and address and stated after receiving the information. Sorry Miss, there is absolutely nothing we could do to assist in this matter since the warranty has expired.

I said, I understand that the warranty had expired however, was this a rare case with the television disfunction or had there been many blow outs with this particular model. If so, why haven't they did a recall. The supervisior Andrew said no complaints to his knowledge.

They offer no contribution or suggestions towards the repair of my T.V. I said, oh, so what you are telling me in other words, I'm out of $1,700.00. plus tax I paid for a television that only works for 1 year 1/2. The answer from the Supervisor was yes, sorry.

I pulled up numerous complaints from various stores with the same model having the same problem, some blew out as soon as 9 months and had continuous problems with green spots blown out monitor with black screen but sound still working . I need some justice... a report will be filed with the BBB and higher Courts & media will be informed as to HowToshiba treats customers once they get the cash. So long...
