Toshiba Sold the worst computer that dies just a few months after warranty expires ripoff New York New York
Back in Aug 04 Best Buy had a great deal on a Toshiba Satellite S-1062 for $600. I bought it and it was a little slow but it was still worth the price. About 13 month later I upgraded the laptop from its built in 256 mb ram to 1.19 mb ram by simply buying the 1gb ram chip and putting it in the slot.
Worked fine until a few months later I wanted to temporarily test a brand new 512 mb chip instead of the 1 gb chip. It worked fine but when I put the 1gb chip back in this computer it started to give me problems and within 30 minutes the blue screen of death.
Unfortunately it was diagnosed with a bad motherboard which costs about $300 used on ebay. I can't beleive this motherboard went bad by simply removing the ram chip, which was placed very carefully. Its not covered under warranty anymore becuase Toshiba only has it for year. What a junk laptop. Please be carefule buying any kind of Toshiba laptop becuase they are having problems with their cheap motherboards.
I have heard many bad stories about these computers and this isnt the first time that people are unhappy becuase of their cheap motherboards. If you purchase a Toshiba make sure to pay an extra $250 or so for the stores 3 year repair warranty becuase there is a very high chance this computer will break down more than once. Toshiba seems like the best deals for computers but remember you get what you pay for. *JUNK*.
I'm sure a class action lawsuit will start up for this computer. They already lost a class action lawsuit a couple years ago for another junk computer.
