By the way, does that guy from Utah work for U-Haul? If he had the experience we had he wouldn't be so understanding. Here's my experience with UHAUL. We rented a UHAUL truck to move. In anticipation of the truck, we hired six men at $20 per hour to load and unpack eight rooms of furniture. We estimated it would take at least two trips to haul all the furniture. The UHAUL truck broke down and we barely made it to the driveway of the new house. Immediately we called U-Haul for assistance. After getting the runaround, and calling another U-Haul office, I was told they would send a repairman. All I wanted was a replacement truck as we had six men on the clock and no work for them to do. The U-Haul office assured us the mechanic was called and would be there that evening. On that promise, we kept the hired men on call. We called the office several times to check on the mechanic's whereabouts. Again, we were assured he was coming. We asked for a replacement truck; as we knew the truck could not be driven in its condition and said as much to the office. Sometime after midnight we realized the mechanic wasn't coming anytime soon and sent the men home!! At that point we had to pay them for seven hours each; five of which was waiting for the U-Haul mechanic which we were incorrectly informed was coming!!! By law, we had to move from that house by midnight. After midnight the home no longer belonged to us and we ran the risk of losing all our belongings. We were in a panic, and got absolutely nothing but false promises from U-Haul. The mechanic did not arrive until the next morning. That next morning he determined the truck had to be towed. The mechanic did not have another truck on standby as we had requested. By that time, we were out $600, and we were forced to take a day off from work and rent a truck through another party.

I called U-Haul, explained thoroughly the situation, of which they were aware, and asked for an adjustment to the bill. I believe I had to call the main office, but cannot entirely recall.

I never heard from U-Haul again until a phone call nearly a year after last contact and was sent to a collection agency!!!

The U-Haul mishap cost me over $1700 for moving men wages, my lost wages for one day, and the rental of another truck. Next time I'll hire a moving company!

I DO HAVE TO SAY I THINK THE LOCAL UHAUL AGENT'S HANDS WERE TIED. I BELIEVE THE UHAUL MAIN HEADQUARTERS IS WHERE THE PROBLEMS AND POLICIES GENERATED.

This is the last time im posting here because its really just getting annoying. No the guy admitted he doesnt even work at uhaul . He just has no life and wants to sit in here and argue with everyone. its sad. stop this a contract is a contract. so what?? the point is- why shouldnt they be responsible?? thats the question you ask yourself. why should this person be out time and a lot of money over a problem caused by uhaul. if you are an ADULT, you know what responsibility means. obviously you are not a mature person. clearly very selfish. its their fault because they dont keep up their equipment, it should definitely be their responsibility to compensate their customers. so if all you have to say is oh they arent responsible, why even bother posting other than to annoy people and make yourself look like a jerk. people are debating right and wrong here, not legalities, so be intelligent enough to know that by now. shouldnt have taken this long. a rip off is a rip off. meaning you didnt get exactly what you paid for. so if anyone is dumb enough to think its OK for them to screw people this way, then they are not good people. so as long as you can sleep at night, thats fine. not everyone in the world is a good person. but you dont need to come in here and be such a heartless person and jsut annoy people by being a jerk. like its not common sense that people should be mad when they pay for a truck to move and they dont get that?? when they have to take extra days and money they dont have because of uhauls mistake, they should complain? they should just say oh well i let uhaul screw me. no big deal. so we should pay 100% but not get 100% effort from the company. real intelligent argument. i feel bad for everyone who had to deal with all this nonsense when all they wanted to do was move. the company is despicable and even worse are people like you who defend them. k im done here because im about sick of this loser who has nothing better to do than sit in here every day and repeat ignorant nonsense just to annoy people. get a life. you have to have over 50% of the posts in here. its sad. but i guess it is expected an immoral person would be a loser and have nothing else to do. and i will not be visiting this board anymore because i cant stand people who are selfish and immoral.

According to the contract that you signed uhaul is not liable for down time or subsequent damages, but on the same token uhaul is resonsible to fix the truck and send someone out when they tell you they are.
