US Coachways Outrageous cancellation fee Staten Island New York
US Coachways sent me a quote which they asked me to sign and return. Accompanying the quote was a credit card authorization. I signed and returned the forms as the first step toward contracting a limo for a wedding in 6 months. On the reservation form was stated that I would be sent a confirmation to sign binding me to the contract.
After numerous attempts to contact the company by phone to ask questions, I always received a voice message asking me to leave a message. No one returned my messages because the company prefers to use e-mail. I received the final confirmation but because of the problems in communication, I decided not to use their service. I did not sign nor return the confirmation, and sent an e-mail to express my dissatisfaction with the company, stating that I decided not to use them. They called and apologized for any misunderstanding.
Several weeks later, they charged my card for a deposit. I immediately called requesting that they refund my money. They refunded some, but kept $95 as a cancellation fee. They stated that policy dictated that they charge the fee. I balked at the fee, and was told that "nobody is happy paying a cancellation fee" and that, "I should have read the contract." They were rude throughout the entire process.
The fee is completely unfair because I did not sign the confirmation, and did not receive any services from the company.
