Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

If I can prevent any of you from wasting money with "USA Insulation" of the Columbus, OH area, my life will be complete. Note, I cannot tell you their insulation won't work for your house, but I can tell you it did not help my house at all. Not one bit.

USA Insulation used foam that they forced into my exterior walls from the outside via holes drilled into the mortar joints. At a $3700 price tag. Its a steep waste of money and one heck of a buyer beware lesson. My interior walls are still unbelievably (and unchangedly) cold in the winter, and now I even have a harder time cooling my house in the summer. My utility bills are as high as ever. I have had no savings there, at all.

This investment will never pay for itself. And I can tell you that the foam shrinks. I happened to ask them to leave some of the foam out for me to see. That foam shrunk over time. Noticeably.

You see, the problem is I don't have that much space between my brick and the block / plaster walls.  BEWARE that if you don't have much space between the two walls into which they are inserting the insulation, it can't do much insulating.

And even though I discussed this with the USA Insulation rep, he promised me several times that anything I could do to insulate my house would help. He even "guaranteed" that. They openly advertise that comfort and savings are guaranteed. But it is an empty promise. I later found out there is no actual guarantee.

When I did my initial research on them, I couldn't find anything specific, good or bad. I did find one article that said that if you didn't have adequate space between the walls, it wouldn't help. But I unfortunately ignored that one and only article, because I was so excited that I finally found someone (USA Insulation, Columbus, OH) who said they could insulate my house exterior walls and said it would help my house and my utility bills.   And I did call the references they gave me, and those people had either been pleased or had not paid a dang bit of attention to whether the insulation had helped their utility bills.   I sooooo wanted a warmer house in the winter.  So I took the bait.   But they failed me, and basically told me they didnt really care.

I had checked the BBB website, which showed that there were some complaints against them, although they would not reveal what the complaints were. And the complaints were resolved again, they would not say how. When I later brought my own complaint against them to the BBB, they didn't seem to care that USA Insulation is making unfounded promises and guarantees. I was offered a pittance to settle and go away probably like all the other BBB complaints against them.

So Im stuck with my house full of lemon and still have cold walls and high utility bills. So beware before signing up for the services of USA Insulation. There is no guarantee. And it may not work which they wont tell you.

Good luck to you all in your quest for a warmer house.  I wish I had instead spent the money on a high quality fireplace insert ! Now I haven't the money to do that.  :(

I fell for their promise

I also have the brick on the outside and plaster on inside home and fell for their 50% savings in utility bills promise, more comfortable home and no allergens but in return gained much worse.  I hired USA Insulation of Indianapolis.  They destroyed walls, created moisture and mold, negative pressure (moth ball smells and fireplace creosote backup), my utility bills are higher than they were but the worst mistake was I took their finance offer (they get you with 0% for 5 years promise) with Wells Fargo.  Whatever you do, do not take the finance offer they pitch, use your own credit card or loan so you have a chance of dispute!!!!!  They work together and whatever proof you provide they will come back in USA Insulation favor even though they do not have any proof besides the initial contract.

A week after i complained and their guy showed up at the house for 3 days straight, drilled holes from inside and left to get material to start repairs.  He dissapeared after 3rd day, USA insulation is claiming they didn't do anything wrong and it is all my house, my vents and HVAC.  Fact is, my HVAC and vents were fine, still are and I didn't have to do this insulation job but wanted to see if i could make some of the outside walls more comfortable (plaster can get cold) however they were not bad, my home was more comfortable as well  my bills lower prior to this horrible job they did.  They were hired to make a home more comfortable but instead i will have to gut walls to fix temperature issues and re-insulate, replace furnace and AC with some fancy new computerized system that will resolve the moisture, negative pressure, allergens, mold issues all this causing me 10s of thousands of $.

I tried to bring in other insulation companies to tell me how to fix this and they pretty much ran.  Told me they would not touch any of it unless USA Insulation gutted the walls and cleaned out what they did.

I've asked for USA Insulation insurance company info so i can start a claim and never received it.

I provided thermal images, pictures of damages, reports from energy audit, hvac report and pricing for repairs and neither USA Insulation or Wells Fargo care.

I didn't know any better but be smart and do not agree to foam injection without the following:

If you have walls and roof lines with no access, do not inject foam

If you have walls and roof lines with large cavities (slanted walls/ceilings without studs), do not inject foam

If you are considering this job, pay someone to do the professional energy audit of your home prior to agreeing to anything with USA Insulation.

Request their insurance company details prior to the job "just in case if it is needed"

Be Careful and do not fall for the promises, protect yourself ahead of time.
