No different than the others out there doing the same.
There are 2 ways into the business- hard work and nepotism. VIP Talent Connect, run by a bunch of youngsters with no real access or experience is not going to establish a third.
They are parasites on the butt of the entertainment industry.

I just today received an email from this company stating that they were going to have an event, and would I like to attend. I am a New York City actor, with mostly theatre experience, who is now focusing on branching out to film and television.
I do not know how this company got my email address, but no matter. The first thing I did when I received this email is first, google the company, then I googled the company with the key word "complaints". I can discount one complaint as a disgruntlement, but the amount that I see about this is too many to mention. I suggest that anyone who has any questions about and agency do the same. While you may meet some people in the "business" at these "events", what you have to realize is that these people are being paid to be there. Consider that when you shell out your money. I personally do not believe in paying an agent upfront money just to see me, when in actuality, agents and managers work for you! They don't make money unless you do!
Also, I do not know many people in any career field who want to take you on, and trust your work if you have no experience. Of course they are nice and offer great advice. You are paying them to be that way! My advice? Get some training. Get some pictures. You don't need to pay $895.00 for someone to tell you that. If you want somebody to build your self esteem by telling you that you have what it takes, I will tell you for free. You have what it takes if you are willing to put in the work. All of those Oscar winners you see on film? They are not "special" people who got "lucky" at the mall. Maybe one percent of them are. Would you rather spend all of your money at the lottery, or better your chances by doing some honest work to get it? The odds are actually better if you do the work.
I thank all of you who took the time to reveal the real scam of this company, as they did not state anywhere on their website or my email that they charge exhorbitant amounts of money. Let's all make a promise to ourselves to do research before "acting",!

If they have a role they think I would be good for, I am asked to read for the role but I have a lot of fun being an extra or a stand-in too. I would not pay money for what amounts to a cattle call --- for anyone who has the price of admission. IF YOU ARE IN THE BIZ YOU KNOW WHAT A CATTLE CALL IS. I have been in about 14 films incidentally but I am not in Ohio either. When did you all get a film community in OHIO anyway?

There are a limited number of seats for the events, not 200! That would be absurd. It's totally not open to just anyone who is willing to pay. The success rate for booking jobs for the people who attend the events is like 90% I think, so they don't want just anyone to go. I was in the office and heard as a woman was told that it "wasn't for her." They only want highly motivated people as each person at the event has an opportunity to be in front of every Entertainment Professional there. They don't want lazy people who are simply waiting for gigs to land in their laps, they want talented people who are excited to be there and to show off their talent! No execs would agree to take time out of their busy schedule to meet with a bunch of untalented people who simply paid some company a fee. If VIP took just anyone it would make them look bad and it would piss off the industry pros. They'd go out of business! It's just not logical. If I get to meet with industry insiders for $33 a person, I'll absolutely do it! I can sell myself, I just need the exposure! It's a heck of a lot better than waiting for the phone to ring.

I would like to respond to this report. I am a singer/songwriter and paid for the events. I am a consumer. Since the first event, I have to say that my life has completely changed. If you've done your research, the people that actually speak at these events give very valuable information and give you insight on the entertainment industry. I have been very successful. Everyone that I've networked with at these events, I am now working with. Please check out www.myspace.com/maylynmusic. I thank VIP for all the connections. $895 was a very small investment in my career. Musicians pay to go to conferences to network and learn about the business with industry people all the time. Please do your research before you claim negative comments on these sites. Also check out Brandon Fox. He was discovered in VIP. He is now with a huge agency in New York that was actually at the VIP event who spotted him.
