I received a letter from Visionquest Monitoring & Research Group today for $3885 accompanied by a letter signed by Janes F. Shelley, Director. Human Resources. The company is supposedly offering me a part-time position as a Consumer Service Evaluator. The letter presents 2 assignments:
The First Assignment involves testing the effectiveness and efficiency of the payment system offered by Western Union or MoneyGram (or 'any other specified Financial Institution'). The Second Assignment involves me spending $200 at Walmart, K-mart, Macys or JC Penney and evaluating how I was treated as a customer.
The breakdown of the check is as follows:
1. 3 hours probationary training pay @ $100 / hr ..................$300.00
2. Funds for shopping or Hotel Lodging................................$200.00
3. Service Charge by Western Union/MoneyGram...................$165.00
4. Required funds to be sent...........................................$3,220.00
TOTAL................................................$3,885.00
I called the number for my assignment coordinator to confirm my receipt of the check, then she instructed me to deposit it into my account and then call her when it clears. 4 days later the check bounces and your account gets not only a $10 fee but they freeze your account and send it to the security department for investigation (on all things over $3,000) then to close the account.
No one sends $3885 to someone they don't know with a letter telling them to call for instructions on what to do with the money. I am posting this in the hope that others will see it and believe it before falling for it.
I even read a previous blog of the exact same thing and I was to hard headed to believe it and I went for it anyways. Biggest mistake ever. Not only did it mess my checking account up but it creates many other problems such as any direct deposits going into that account, direct withdrawls from the account or paying any upcoming bills.
