2015-01-20 I attended Western Carrer College in 1998. I completed with honors the AS Degree Medical Assistant program. During my time there I recived numerous Dean and President awards. I was first of all told that WCC credits were transferable. I enrolled in Heald college originally in San Francisco and then disenrolled after speaking to Western Career College because of the trasferable credits. Only to find out later that I could not use the credits at Chabot Community College and San Francisco City College.
I was also told by WCC that I would get assistance in finding employment after graduation and that never happened. WCC idea of employment assistance was they sat me at a computer and told me to look for jobs. Every job I applied for turned me down due to lack of experience. The school could have atleast given me a recommendation letter but I received nothing. After being unsuccessful in finding employment I tried to enroll back in school for the Nursing program to find out my credits and my degree meant nothing.
I owe over $20,000 in student loans for an education that I can not even use. I feel that WCC lied, ripped me off and should suffer the consequences for doing so. I am now back in school and have been told that because of my credits at WCC my financial aid will be eliminated after four terms. I can not get another AS Degree in four terms, let alone my BS Degree that I originally plan to get and I feel that WCC should either pay back those student loans or pay for my current education.
