Keith West has been doing my taxes for many years without incident. In 2016, I gave him my 2015 taxes to file. I received notification from the IRS that there was an issue with my refund, and my husband contacted Keith to find out what was wrong. Keith said he needed to file an extension on my behalf, but it was no big deal. It really couldn't have been, since my income was less than $40,000 that year. I never heard back from Keith, but I figured that no news was good news. In 2017, I went to file my 2016 taxes, and was told that I was ineligible to file because the IRS had never received my 2015 return. My now ex-husband had a tax appointment with Keith on March 29, and at that meeting, Keith told my ex that he was going to electronically file my 2015 return that night, so I could file my 2016 return the next day. I was assured that my 2015 refund was almost $4000, including interest. I filed my 2016 return, and waited. And waited. And waited. I began calling Keith office almost daily, but to no avail. They will not answer the phone, and they will not respond to voicemail messages. I have tried emails. No response. I have called more times than I can count, and have never heard back from anyone in the office. Today was the final straw. I received a letter from the IRS stating that my 2016 refund is being held by the IRS due to my 2015 return having never been filed. I am furious. Due to Keith's unethical business practices and broken promises, my 2016 refund is being held hostage, and I am at a loss as to what to do. We have already paid Keith for his services, including the insurance that he sells to make sure that any trouble with your return is handled by his office. How can he handle a problem when he can't even handle my return? And the icing on the cake? The IRS rep that I spoke with today said I was not going to be receiving a $3800 refund from the IRS for my 2015 taxes. Instead, I owe somewhere between $1200 and $1600. This guy is bad news: incompetent, a con artist, and a wolf in sheep's clothing. Do yourself a favor, and stick with H&R Block or TurboTax. He isn't worth one penny.
