Westwood Chev Olds ripoff misrepresentation gouging and unnecessary work Mississagua Ontario
Took my 2002 Chev Venture in because I notice two or three transmission slips over a 2 week period. The front line service reps are very personable but the backroom boys are deplorable and dishonest, and the kid who is the service manager would be able to pass business 102 in a college never mind a university. Well I walked away with a $2,200 bill for replacing the rad and contamination of the cooling system.
The van sat in the driveway while I was away travelling and went a total of 700 kms. Went to a lunch meeting and almost didn't make it. You got it ! the transmission skipping, lurching and generally acting up! Got the engine check light too. Definitely the cooling system again, look at that contamination in the overflow catchment. we'll do an acid flush that will fix the transmission and we'll replace a few more hoses. This time the free fix cost $ 420. dollars. I drive away being assured that they had significantly and throughly tested the fixes and everything was fine.
I haven't even gone 6 kms about halfway home and it is back doing everything it was doing the day and two weeks before. I go right back but of course it is 5:00 pm and the service reps are gone. The service manager says well it isn't under warranty and we need to replace the transmission valve body which costs $1200. plus labour and that might not be the problem either!
So the moral of the story is try Mister Transmission, who at least might have an idea of what the real problem is, rather than putting trust in the GM's Quality Goal and Customer Satisfaction Initiative.
Oh forgot to mention the exhausive test drive which took more than half an hour but only went less that 7 kms according to the odometer.
