In April, I ordered a box set of "Soap" on Region free dvds. £33.47p was paid. No confirmation was sent as they said it would be. None of my email enquiries were ever replied to.
Other websites showed that many other customers had received faulty goods or none at all, and had very little satisfaction in getting problems resolved. It appeared whycostas operated through a non-existant US company.
Enquiries at my bank in the UK found that the originator appeared to be in the Seychelles; further enquiries after submitting a claim for the refund of a payment to what seemed now to be a fraudulent company, revealed that it actually was in China.
On June 6 the dvds arrived confirming this although the label did not give an obvious actual address, just a lot of code letters. On playing the first disc i found the film kept freezing. Frequent careful wipes with a soft cloth helped but did not eliminate this.
The original series, which were Region 1, has obviously been transferred (bootlegged as an online lawyer has told me) to cheap,second-rate region-free discs. Some have marke which can be wiped off but they are of inferior quality as other customers have found.
Their site shows a great many other series which no doubt will be no better. If it is difficult to get at this company at least something should be put online against their website to warn buyers that their products are cheap bootlegs that do not play.
