I was contacted by Magazine Direct and I ordered magazines. Approximately one year later I fell into financial difficulties and tried to cancel my subscription. I was told "...you, nor anyone else can cancel your subscription; we buy your subscriptions ahead of time and can't stop them!" I told them that I would not and could not keep it and was no longer going to pay.
Around that time the bank issued me a new card with a different number.
Some months later I received another call from Magazine Direct telling me they could not use the card they had. I told him I had tried to cancel and my request was vehemently, and rudely denied. He told me what the other person did about their buying my subscription ahead of time so I owed them money. He refused my second request.
Less than one week later, I received a letter from Interstate Recovery Service, P.O. Box 8125 Virginia Beach, VA., telling me rudely that they are "...demanding payment in full..." in the amount of $000000799.00. I paid for the magazines I got but will not pay for future ones!
