Since August 21st of this year, I have been trying to get a refund from Michele Pritchard of AAA Diamond Sphynx Cattery. She breeds Sphynx cats, and we contacted her in April about purchasing two Sphynx kittens. We had an agreement to purchase two male Sphynx kittens, for $600 each, for a total of $1200. This did not include the airport shipping charge, but everything else pertaining to the kittens (i.e. vet visits, neutering, and care) was to be included. We prepaid the $1200, and sent her a $200 check for shipping at her request shortly before she was to ship the kittens.

On August 21, we went to the airport to pick up our two kittens. We were shocked to see that, without even notifying us, she only sent us one kitten. We were upset and called her. Pritchard responded by e-mail saying that she decided not to send the one kitten, and would return our money. We canceled the $200 check for shipping, and that left us with a total of $400 for the kitten. The shipping only came out to $160, not $200. The balance really should have $440, but we didn't want to knit pick, we were upset, and just wanted to get the $400 back and end this.

I have e-mails that show she decided to add the cost for the health certificate (despite the fact that vet visits were included originally), and claimed she only owed us $325. We were so desperate to get our money back that we acquiesced and agreed to accept it as full payment. Pritchard has not sent us any money back and e-mails will show that she has verbally abused us, threatened us, made outrageous accusations against us, and repeatedly made us jump through hoops to get our money back. She also has lied numerous times, and continually comes up with excuses as to why our money has not been returned in all this time. She keeps saying that our refund has not been denied, but she still hasn't sent it.

Most recently, she demanded a notarized letter, which we sent certified mail on November 24. She acknowledged she received it but has not contacted us since. It's obvious she has no intention of sending us our money back. She owes us $440, (not $325), but she has cut of all contact. In August, when she had cut off contact with us for awhile, I tried calling a vet to see if there was an alternate number for her. The vet said that people from FL also have been trying to get in touch with her. We're probably not the only ones she's ripped off.

If you read the emails that went back and forth below.... starting from bottom to top....she admits she has been making untruthful statements and agrees to fix them and stop. She not only lied but continued. Always keep your emails from people like this. She did say that her mom would take the kittens if there was a problem but what I said to her was: That her mom already had a cat for several years and if there was a problem with the cats getting along...I was sure she would not part with her own cat. I asked her very nicely to see how things went with one kitty first but being the unreasonable person she is.... she did not want to hear of it. Being that I am the breeder and my first priority is to see that my kitties are placed in forever homes. If I were trying to steal her money I would have cashed her shipping check, which I never did because I knew she had a refund coming. I have never stolen or kept anyone's money and the small amount she was carrying on about was only not sent immediately was due to her harassing behavior. I did send one check, which they said they never got and then they wanted it sent paypal to some production company paypal acct. All I asked was for them to do a paypal acct. in their own name....they refused. As you can read below this was cleared up and if it had not been for her own BAD behavior.... horribly harassing...calling for hours starting at 4:30am...only to mention one of many things this lady did.... she would have had her money so much faster. After all it was only $375.... which I had no problem coming up with. I have job. I do not make my living through cat breeding. Although it was completely unprofessional of her to not send the 2nd kitten without informing me before I went to the airport to pick them up , that was not my main issue. And by the way,I disclosed to her that I lived in an apartment four months earlier when I first started talking to her, and we also had an agreement that if it didn't work out, I would return both kittens or my mother would take them. She agreed to this. But that is beside the point. I also have in writing her admitting that she wanted to keep the one kitten for herself. That was the real reason, she was not concerned about them. My issue with her is that it took her 10 months to refund my money. She made us jump through hoops, and told lie after lie as to why the money was not returned. It took reporting her to the Bureau of Consumer Affairs in Pittsburgh to get her to pay the money she owed. Feel free to call the Bureau of Consumer Protection in Pittsburgh at: 412-565-5135 and ask them about this. The case ID # is C007758-2004.

This matter has been resolved and this woman not only posted here but other places using other people's names. It is nice to have a place like this to take real complaints but the bad thing about it is that people can use different emails and names and slander good breeders. I chose not to sell her the 2nd kitten because she disclosed she was living in an apartment and was worried about the noise kittens would make for she had difficult neighbors below her. I asked her very nicely to consider the one pet and see how it went. She was not open to that so I did what I felt necessary to ensure my kittens were not going to end up homeless.
