Above The Rest Limousine Services ATR Now Failure to honor promised refunds, exchanges, or credit Owners lying crooked thieves Internet
On June 16, 2011 I contacted Above the Rest to rent a limousine for a bachlorette party in Wilmington, N.C. The person answering the phone was the driver and arranged to meet for payment and contract. On June 17, 2011 I met with the driver and paid 195.00 in cash to pick up the young women in Wilmington and return them to Oak Island, N. C. This payment included two bottles of champagne and they put Boone's Farm wine instead.. The driver arrived promptly at 11:00pm on June 21, as arranged. After being in the limousine briefly (still in downtown area), the limousine broke down. I was contacted by the driver who said that she would try to find another vehicle. During a second phone call she said that she was unable to locate another ride. I offered to pick the girls up myself as I did not want to leave them stranded in downtown Wilmington. I asked my sister to drive her van and I took ours and we went to pick the girls up. We met in a parking lot where she said she had the limousine towed to pick up a cell phone that had been left. She was crying and said that I would have my money refunded.
After not hearing from her I telephoned her on Monday June 27 to ask when I could meet her to collect my refund. She said that the owner would like to offer me other limo services. Since I do not live in this area and this was for a special event I declined and asked for my money back. She said that she would have to go to the bank and we would be able to meet the next afternoon. Since this conversation I have not heard from her and there is no answer when I contact the company by phone. I left two e-mail messages. I explained that I would contact my attorney, The BBB, and the local television station if I did not get a refund. I did not hear back from the first e-mail. My attorney told me that he could file a claim in small claims court, or I could. In my last e-mail I informed them of my intentions. I would prefer to work this out without going to court, but will pursue this avenue if I do not get a refund. I am only asking for my money back. I am not asking for any additional money for the extra trips we made into Wilmington or the fact they spoiled my daughters special ride home.
