I ordered a Signal Horn Kit 8 Oz., and a Horn Refill Canister 8 Oz.  After providing all the required information, including the credit card number PLUS the ccv number, I received an E-mail confirming my order on 12/1/2011 at 9:31:56 PM.  Less than 24 hours later I received this E-mail:

Due to fraud protection measures, we will require a front and the back copy of your credit to be faxed to 718-821-2609 or you can reply to this e-mail with a scanned copy.
Please fill out the enclosed form. If we do not hear back from you within 24 hours your order will be automatically cancelled by the system.
If you have any questions, please reply to this email or give us a call at (212)-400-7488. Please refer to your Order # 2184747.
Thank you for business.
Sincerely,
Alex Bell

The form that was attached was a Credit Card Authorization Form that asked for all the information given at the time I placed the internet order; however, it required a copy of my drivers license too!

I contacted the Ace Hardware corporate office, and was informed that Ace Hardware Outlet is just a retail shop in Brooklyn using the Ace Hardware name online that is unaffiliated with Ace Hardware.  The corporate office did acknowledge that there were many problems with Ace Hardware Outlet.

Based on that information, I contacted the New York BBB (Claire Rosenzweig) in Brooklyn, NY, the Brooklyn, NY  FBI Field Office,  the New York State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico, the New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, IC3 (the Internet Crime Complaint Center), and the FTC (Federal Trade Commission).

Mr. Alex Bell called me to inform me that he had sent me that form by mistake.  I informed Mr. Bell that he picked the wrong person to send that to, because I am a Retired State Police Investigator.  Then I sent him an E-mail of all the agencies I had contacted, an warned him that if my credit card information was disclosed by him OR anyone via Ace Hardware Outlet, that he would be arrested.  I also demanded a confirmation that my order be cancelled, and a gredit to my card be processed immediately.  He complied.
