AFF, ALT, and other affiliates have questionable enrollment practices. Some Click-thru, banner ads, and other marketing vehicles have frequently trapped consumers. The basic scam is this: Consumers will attempt to purchase something from an affiliate site, or co-marketing site, many appear to be legitimate, lingerie, adult movie, and other social networking sites. As a consumer attempts to make a purchase they are required to fill a questionnaire to get to the billing page. That questionnaire actually fills out the AFF profile, there is a small box somewhere in the questionnaire process that allows you to decline the AFF membership. However it is usually missed. Because AFF grants you 1-2-3months free consumers often dont see the charge immediately. Ofter these enrollee's are charged for months or even a year at a time. The sporadic billing is hard to defeat, if a member refutes the charge with their bank, they'll only be charged again some time later.
AFF has recently quit the practice yet still rely on banner ads, and other tactics to trick consumers. They are currently under investigation by the FBI, and Federal Trade Commission, however little can be done. Consumers beware!!!
