Sir: On 13 Feb. 2004, I purchased a Dell Computer System that I am very happy with, But I did not know it came with an AOL contract attached to it. As soon as my system arrived and I got it set up, I attempted to delete AOL from my system on the computer and thought I had been sucessful in doing so, I did not read the fine print that you have to call AOL by phone to cancel therefore I realize I will not get my money back, But that is ok, I just want to let as many people as possible know what kind of company AOL is, They are very unethical.
I did not realize I even had AOL Until I checked my bank statement last month and found that AOL has been withdrawing $23.90 from my Bank account on a regular basis for approx one year. I called to cancel and spoke with Richard In Jacksonville and he gave me a cancellation no. of 6739230 on 05/10/05 a few days later I received a letter from AOL Thanking me for agreeing to continue my account with AOL, I immediately sent them a certified letter and told them in no uncertain terms they did not want to withdraw another dime from my account.
I am in the process of seeking legal counsel in this matter, but in the meantime. I want people to be aware of what AOL really is. It is a virus once you get it on your screen you cannot delete it.
I like Dell equipment, I believe it is quality material, but I will never do business with Dell or any other company on line because they cannot be trusted and I think that is a very sad situation. I have never stolen anything from anyone and would never even consider it, and I guess I trust everyone to be as honest with me. But unfortunately, that is not the way the world works today.
