Charles, I would love to see a debt collector, especially NCO bring harassment charges.! That would be rich! Upon NCO's first refusal to stop calling, I immediately filed police reports on them for harassment both where I live and in PA where they operate from. That did no good, so stronger measures were needed. You have to fight them by thier own rules. That is all they understand. You have to be very firm with them, and also be nasty to them. Let them know what lowlife scumbags they are.

They called me up one day and said that I owed some money from a closed bank account at some address. Then they asked if I have ever had an account at that bank, NO Then they asked if I have ever lived at the address they mentioned, NO Then she had the nerve to ask me for the last four digits of my social security number.. me: "I am NOT giving you that" Her: "Well, how do I know that I am dealing with the right person?" ME: "I guess you DON'T, thats probably something YOU should have checked on BEFORE calling me!" CLICK! Havent heard a thing from them since!

Nco could accuse you of harassment like they have done everybody else. Nco accused me of harassment but they did not put this in their response to my complaint. Nco is very tricky they can accuse you of harassment when you haven't just for the kicks, cause they think they have the power to do it.

Helen, Here is the info on NCO: Agency Details" NCO Financial Systems, Inc. **** ( Also goes by the name of NCO Portfolio Management) 507 Prudential Rd Horsham, PA 19044-2308 Phone: (215) 441-3000 Fax: (215) 441-3923 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Web Address: www.ncogroup.com >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 150 Crosspoint Pkwy CrossPoint Business Park Getzville, NY 14068-1602 Phone: (716) 404-2100 Fax: (716) 404-2120 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NCO was just "sold" to its CEO, Michael J. Barrist and will be "changing" its name. They did this because the law was on thier heels for FDCPA and FCRA violations and many lawsuits. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I like pounding thier fax# with like 150 copies of a cease communications letter right after they close for the night as it wipes out the paper and toner and/or fills the memory. This is just one of my many tricks to pull on scumbag collection agencies like NCO. Have fun!

I hope you see this. I appreciate your response. I will do as you suggest. I have not given them personal identifying information. AOL did ask for my credit card number to see if it matches the one on the account. I refused to do so for fear they would charge it. I have not been able to find an address to send this request to for AOL. AOL refused to supply me with a mailing address for their billing department. All I have is an address for AOL headquarters. I have asked an actual AOL member to look online for a billing address. They only supply a phone number. Memberships can only be paid with a credit card or direct debit from your checking account.

Helen, NEVER speak to any third party debt collector on the phone. DEMAND all communications be in writing. Only communicate with them in writing by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified# on the letter itself, and make a copy for your records. AOL obviously sold an "account" to NCO that had no personal identifying information such as SS#, DOB, etc..and I hope in your CONVERSATIONS with them that you did not VALIDATE the debt by giving them this info. NEVER give ANY personal info to ANYONE over the phone, ESPECIALLY a debt collector. NCO just searched out anyone and everyone with the same or similar name, and you responded. You need to send a DEBT VALIDATION request to both parties by the means above where you clearly dispute the debt, and DEMAND a FULL account history which will include date opened, method of payment and means of payment/account#, and username/screenname. They also need to provide the IP address that identifies your computer. You can also countersue them for the frivolous collection attempt and be sure to go to FTC.gov and file an online complaint. Even NCO will never sue over 59 dollars. They already put more effort into it than it is worth to them.
