Short and to the point. I contracted with a dealer for American Steel Span of PA to deliver a 30 X 60 steel galvalume S series building. I sent them $1425.00 deposit on the building. The factory contacted me and we set up a date of Nov 2002 for delivery. The Factory then sent me the construction manuals and delivery receiving instructions. 4 copies of engineered drawings were also received so that I could spend more money getting the building permit and more money hiring a contractor to lay out the concrete foundation per their instructions.

Nov, Dec 2002 came and went and no returns of my calls from the factory in PA. Throughout 2003 many calls and promised delivery dates and call backs were promised but none ever came. (meanwhile the $80,000 worth of building materials, some on site awaiting the metal building and others that I had to secure dry storage for because the metal building never came) resulted in a massive storage and materials lost/damaged due to rain.

Now I am out well over $5000 just in losses and storage, not to mention the $1425 deposit or the $500 contractor retainer. The owner of the factory calls me after I file a complaint with the PA attorney Generals Office stating that he would send me the building once his staff ironed out the wind rated door requirement for Florida and that he would include it at his cost, but he would sell it for the original price on the contract that I could forget about all of my damages. I Tell him OK, deliver the **** building.

Guess what, That was 10/24/03. Still no building 06/06/04. My part of the deal is off. The lame excuse that the owner (A Mr. Davis) has, is that his dealer/broker who sold me the building went out of business and took all of the money mine and others in persuit of a "sickness regarding alcohol" The real truth is somewhere in between. Mr. davis factory withheld the building I had paid for and waited long enough until his dealer/broker went out of business and then had his staff tell me in late 2003 that they would not be delivering my building. Up to and including this point in 2003 they had promised on multiple ocassions to deliver the building, always stating that they would call back with the deliver info.

Guess what they never called back with any delivery info. What they were playing (with My money, more and more of it ever day) was the old axiom Wish in one hand and **** in the other and see which one fills up first. I am now out the entire cost of the building and have not received one screw (perhaps one). Don't learn the hard way as I did all of these NAMES " American Steel Span, Aztec Steel, American Duro Span, ECT, ECT appear to be companies but are trade names. The factory may keep themselves insulated from the customer in this manner. Further the dealer/brokers register their own business name which further insulates the factory. The gentleman (?) I sent the money to who sent me a signed contract back by a represenative of American Steel Span seems to be worthless (You See American Steel Span has no business address).

You need to read between the lines here as what do you think your chances are when you buy a steel building from a system which can line the pocket of sales person at every step of the process except the one where you actually recieve what you pay for. Regarding the Factory (Steel factory Inc or Universal Steel Buildings Corp) what ever their name is, thanks for lying to me for over two years and thanks alot for all in my life that you have directly contributed to screwing up, not to mention the thousands I have poured down the rat hole while your personnel promised the deliver was around the corner.

Oh by the way the guy (gentleman)? dealer broker? that finially went out of business in mississippi now is working with/for? Mr. Davis? the factory owner?. Sounds like a promotion HUH? Regardless a tidy arangement.

Rip Off Report To: Whom it may concern: RE: American Steel Span Southern Steel Buildings I am writing to you on behalf of American Duro Span Steel Buildings. I read your rip off report dated 06/10/2004 for the above referenced companies. American Duro Span was implicated as being affiliated with those companies. American Duro Span is an individual corporation. Our company is not associated with American Steel Span, Southern Steel or Aztec Steel. Our company's name was used in a false statement. This is blatant slander and it will not be tolerated. We are very sorry that this customer was treated unfairly, but we would never do anything like that. We are a respected member of the Better Business Bureau and would never do anything to tarnish our name. We are requesting that our name be removed and that you provide us with the name of the individual who filed the complaint. This information is false and if not removed we will be forced to report this incident to the necessary authorities. Regards,
