We embarked on a large renovation project with Amy Brewster Design as well as a site contractor/supervisor. Our initial experience with Amy Brewster was quite positive and we were generally happy with her customer service. However, as the project progressed, Amy Brewster became increasingly confrontational with us (her clients) as well as the site contractor. Because we wanted our project to be completed without causing further headaches for ourselves, we appeased her increasingly unprofessional behaviour. As time went on, Amy Brewster's communications became increasingly unprofessional and disrespectful (snapping at us on the phone, writing terse emails), and Amy Brewster stopped returning our phone calls or emails in a timely manner (we would leave 4-5 messages before she called us back - she rarely would actually answer her phone when we called her).
The breaking point was when we allowed her to order and manage the installation of our window coverings. Amy Brewster was dishonest about the timeframe of the arrival and installation of the product, and when we would question her she would come up with excuses (i.e. lies) about the status of our order and installation. When we finally received the window coverings (6 weeks late), Amy Brewster hired a sub-contractor to perform the installation. Upon installation, it quickly became apparent that two of the window coverings were the incorrect color. On December 4th, we got a hold of Amy (after numerous unsuccessful tries) and we asked her to reorder those two window coverings. Amy Brewster indicated that the company that we had ordered from are "closed for the Christmas holidays". Given that it was December 4th, we didn't buy that story (we had become accustomed by now to her relentless lies/exaggerations), so we called the company directly and inquired if we could submit an order to replace the two incorrect window coverings. The company informed us that they are accepting orders and that they won't be closing for the holidays until December 20th. We were upset with Amy Brewster's lies so we called her and told her that we would like to put the order in now, on December 4th. Amy Brewster became completely irate and started to scream at us, telling us that we had no right to go directly to the manufacturer and that we needed to go through her. Obviously, Amy Brewster was upset that she had been caught red-handed in a lie.
Following that blow-up, we were in contact a few times with Amy Brewster regarding the re-ordering of the two window coverings. Her response was always, "They have been ordered and they are on the way." Six months later, we have not received the product and Amy Brewster has stopped returning our phone calls.
As well, the sub-contractor that had installed our window coverings contacted us and informed us that he has not been paid by Amy Brewster for three jobs that he completed for her. Unfortunately, we had paid Amy Brewster up front for the product and installation; Amy Brewster was then supposed to pay the installer. The installer has not received payment.
This complaint has been written in hopes that future clients and sub-contractors of Amy Brewster Design will be aware of the lack of professionalism and dishonesty of Amy Brewster.
