Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This has been my experience:

Back in the beginning of April, we saw a picture of a 10 week old Pomeranian Puppy at anypets.com (CB34267). On April 11, 2007, we purchased that puppy through Stuart Hirsch, one of Anypets.com's representatives. Six weeks later, when our puppy arrived from Louisiana, I questioned not only his coloring but the length of his fur. He is supposed to be from a champion bloodline and came from a breeder in Rayville, LA called Little Paws Kennel. I called Anypets and spoke with several individuals - starting with Jennifer Spakes as well as with Marlene Martinez. On each occasion, I expressed my concerns as well as to the breeder, Rhonda Weems (aka Rhonda Wallace) and was told he was a purebred Pomeranian and that his coat will take awhile to grow in.

Now it is 4 months later and the puppy looks nothing like a Pomeranian. The breed standard is 3 - 7 pounds and he is 9 pounds. He was supposed to be an orange sable color but is tan with some white. He also has a very short coat and looks like a corgi - not a Pomeranian. My veterinarian and two local Pomeranian breeders doubt he is a purebred Pomeranian. I have contacted several people at Anypets demanding a refund and they refused. Marlene Martinez, Customer Service Manager, of Anypets.com told me the best that can be done is to send me another puppy - I could keep the one I've had for 4 months. I told her I did not want another puppy to raise. Her response was I could sell it if I wanted. She told me there was no way I would receive any refund.

I have also been in contact with the breeder, Rhonda Weems (aka Rhonda Wallace) at Little Paws Kennel in Rayville, LA. First she admitted to me that my puppy who was sold as a Pomeranian did NOT come from her kennel but from her aunt's and that she could not guarantee that he is a Pomeranian. Rhonda also divulged to me that in April, she received a phone call from Jennifer Spakes at Anypets asking Rhonda whether she had any Pomeranian puppies available. Rhonda told Jennifer she did not but that she MIGHT know someone who did. Rhonda then admitted to me that she doesn't know what happened. She said perhaps her aunt did not supervise the dam and that she mated with another dog. Rhonda said she kept Brutus' sister (from the same litter) who looks like a Pom. Her explanation is that a dam can carry puppies from multiple fathers and that maybe Brutus' mother was not supervised carefully and is possibly part Pekinese. Rhonda then offered to send me a replacement puppy. I told her it's been 4 months we have bonded with the puppy we received and that is unacceptable. I am demanding a refund.

As I researched Anypets and the General Manager's name, Jordan Blum, I discovered others who have similar complaints. Then - much to my surprise - I came across several interesting articles involving General Steel Domestic Sales, LLC d/b/a General Steel, and Capital Steel Industries, LLC d/b/a Capital Steel.

It is unthinkable that Jordan Blum ve engaged in and been penalized for participating in consumer fraud and deceptive trade practices, and yet continues to do so. Nearly all of the published complaints about Any Pets, Inc. are from 2006 - present, when he joined as General Manager. Anypets.com engages in activities which advertise and market puppies that don't exist. They also substitutes one puppy for another which is deceptive, fraudulent, excessive and blatantly illegal. There are numerous others, both consumers and breeders, who are looking for recourse from shipping sick pets; shipping different pets than the ones selected from the website; misrepresentation of facts regarding the pets' origins; and failure to stand by its guarantee, who have been duped out of thousands of dollars.

I have requested that I be fully reimbursed the $1284.00 I was deceptively charged or I will pursue legal action.

In addition, I have contacted the consumer fraud department of Miami's NBC affiliate, TVJ. I am sure the television stations and newspapers in South Florida will be interested in this story, given the numerous complaints posted on various websites regarding anypets.com's unlawful practices.

Anypets.com has engaged in fraudulent and deceptive business practices. I have filed complaints with the Florida BBB, the Florida State Attorney General, The Florida Department of Agriculture, the Broward County Bar Association (for a lawyer) and the Louisiana State Attorney General.

Simply put, it will cost Any Pets, Inc. much more than $1284.00 to defend what promises to be class action litigation and potential criminal penalties. I look forward to hearing from you.

The Pom belonging to Donna King purchased from anypets

#2REBUTTAL Individual responds

Fri, December 19, 2008

To whom it may concern , Any pets did purchase a Pom puppy from me that I aqquired from another breeder " A friend" for Mrs. Donna King. I did recieve the portion of the payment plus shipping from Anypets and did indeed ship the Pom to Mrs. King. Several Pictures were sent to Mrs. King of the Pom puppy right up to the week of shipping the puppy to Mrs. King and she loved the looks of the puppy. The color of the Pom was vivid in the pictures as well as it's hair texture. Never in any way shape or form did I guarantee size of the Puppy as sometimes puppies do get bigger than there parents just like in humans. Never did I guarantee that the puppy would definatley be within breed standards and show quality. We did indeed quarantee the health of the puppy. The puppy arrived clean, safe and sound with a certificate of health, food and vaccine records and the registration papers were sent to Anypets in Mrs. Kings name from the breeder " a friend". The puppy checked out in perfect health other than a mild case of Girardia from which was triggered from the stress of the move from it's breeder to the new owner, Mrs. King was sent the cost of the medication from me to anypets through paypal , I belive $54.00. I always put my kennel name on the taxi so that the new customers can contact me personally if they need assistance or have any questions or problems with there new family members as I do care . Mrs. King contacted me personally to express that she was not happy with the looks of the puppy and stirred up a horrible stink. I expressed that Mrs. King did not personally purchased the puppy from me that payment for the pup was sent to me though anypets and that she had paid anypets. I do believe that anypets as any breeder or buisness would offer a replacement puppy if the origianl pup be returned. Mrs. King refused to return the so called ugly Pomeranian puppy which she refused to return and continued to try to ruin my reputation, so at this point I offered that she keep the pup due to attatchement that she has for the pup and that I would send her another puppy and pay the shipping. Mrs. King refused every offer that I offered at the time, so I sent a refund through paypal to Anypets and asked that they send it to Mrs. King for my part of the puppy that was paid to me, I believe $450.00. I have totally refunded the total cost of the puppy other than the shipping fee to any pets as well as paid extra for the $54.00 worth of medication to assure the health of the puppy. The cost of the puppy sent to me through Anypets was given to the breeder of the puppy and she did not reimburse me for the cost of the puppy so I am out over $500.00 out of my pocked for the refund sent to Mrs. King. At this point I ask that you leave my buisness name out of this as I went above my means to make things right with you on my part and you should take the remaining portion up with Any pets. After talking with vets and others I have confirmed that the Pomeranian orriginated from the Spitz which is a rather larger dogs and this is why Poms sometimes are bigger than the 7 pounds as sometimes this gene does pop up in breedings from ther ancestors. Vets have stated that they have seen 20 pound pur bred Poms and that they accutally do come out of little parents, the same applies with the Toy poodle as they do originat from the large Standard Poodle. If this posting effects my business I will have to seek legal assistance as I have cleared my name by making refunds and offering another puppy. My business has a good , clear name, placing happy, healthy puppies with new familys and I intend on keeping it that way. Thanks and God Bless,

There is no connection between James W. Schwinn and Wizard of Claws

Thank you for setting me straight on there being no connection between James W. Schwinn and Wizard of Claws. I have had constructive conversations - both yesterday and today with James (Jimmy) W. Schwinn. James maintains that it is another "associate" of anypets.com who has been responsible for ripping people off. Based upon my research and my investigation - it "appears" that he is telling the truth. I want to believe him in this assertion. Jimmy claims that he is going to make sure that those affected receive a refund and that all puppies who were paid for are shipped. Jimmy also claims he wants to do the right thing - time will tell. There is a pending lawsuit that has been filed and the outcome of this lawsuit will further illuminate the truth. As I explained to Jimmy, once I receive my refund and know that he has made amends - then all of us will know that we have helped those who are honest and brought to justice those who are not.

#6UPDATE EX-employee responds

Donna, I am a recently fired employee at Any Pets, Inc. - unlike others who were told of the shutdown on Thursday, 10/18 at 6pm, I already had been let go on Monday - who wants justice done on every count against whoever is responsible for having ripped off clients of the business and its former employess, including myself, all of us having worked for at least three weeks without pay. I just found out that my previous paycheck from the company also had bounced though it had been deposited on Oct. 6, so I worked four weeks without pay! I and others - I've now been in touch with three of my former co-workers - believe that James Schwinn, one of the owners of Any Pets, is responsible for fraud and we want a full investigation into the actions of all principles of the company leading up to its closing this past Thursday. If James Schwinn is responsible for this rip-off, I hope he's prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and if I can aid the process, I will do so gladly. But I found no basis for your allegation about his former bad business practices with an infamous south Florida business called Wizard of Claws. A Jim and Gilda Anderson were accused in that case, not a James Schwinn according to the search I just did on what I learned to be the sordid history of that company. Making false accusations absolutely doesn't help a cause which demands not just a desire for justice but a desire and a need for facts. If James Schwinn has a history of consumer fraud, I'd certainly be interested in seeing that documented. If you have documentation of his involvement with Wizard of Claws, please produce it; it could only add fuel to the fire burning in the hearts of the ripped off by Any Pets. Or retract your statement which, if false, might be considered libellous.

Anypets.com d/b/a Any Pets, Inc. Closes Its Doors

#9Author of original report

Sat, October 20, 2007

Hello All, I write you all with both good news and bad news. First the good news... I just received a phone call from a representative from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. On Thursday, 10/18/07, the employees of Anypets.com d/b/a Any Pets. Inc closed their doors with no notice to their employees and owing them three weeks pay. Marlene Martinez was the one who called to notify them of the closing and that James W. Schwinn a/k/a Michael James "cannot be reached." WHAT A SHOCK! Imagine - the owner of Wizard of Claws engaging in the same business practices with Anypets.com! However, Jennifer and I still urge you to continue to contact the Florida State Attorney General to demand that some legal recourse be taken against James W. Schwinn. It is absurd that he was permitted to open a business AGAIN in Florida and do this again. Please call the AG's offfice and write letters along with as much documentation as you can provide. You should also report this to the Economic Crimes Unit of the Florida State Attorney General. The website address for the Florida State Attorney General is: myfloridalegal.com/contact Again, please do not let this go just because we have shut them down. Now James W. Schwinn a/k/a Michael James must be forced to pay.
