I was so excited to find a yellow lab that met all the physical characteristics I desired in the online website anypets.com. It sounded like such a great deal! All the puppies were purebred and some form of "champion" breed. They came with a "lifetime warranty". Unfortunately, the warranty was as fraudulent as the company.

From the first day I received the puppy, he barked incessantly and was inconsolable. His behavior continued to deteriorate. He had a biting problem which persisted into adulthood. He bit me more than once when he was a puppy. He was found to have atopic dermatitis which the lifetime warranty provided that the puppy be free of hereditary diseases (atopic dermatitis is inherited).

The puppy was reported to have a sweet temperament which was a bald-faced lie. Even as the youngest of my dogs, he fought with the other dogs which were both mild-mannered and nonconfrontational. He caused so much property damage that he has cost me at least $10,000 in the 2 years I have owned him.

I tried contacting the company on several occasions. They were very bad at returning phone calls unless you persisted in calling them. They insisted I give the dog "a chance to get used to his new environment", but I knew that wasn't the problem. His personality flaws were evident from the start. After a while, they stopped returning my phone calls altogether.

I wish I could go back to that day when I was surfing the Internet and not give in to the compulsion to buy a puppy from a website. I was lured by false promises that were obviously too good to be true. Now, I am stuck carrying for a dog with many costly problems, and I don't have the heart to give him up.
