ARS National Telephone Harassement Nationwide
We began getting phone calls from this company because of debt incurred from my father in law, who is a Sr. to my husbands Jr. I would tell the person calling that they did not or have never lived at the address or phone number and I could not give out personal information. The calls continued and every time I stated that the people they were trying to reach did not live at the address, and Jennifer the person that was calling the most asked if I would leave them a message. I stated I did not speak to them and that they needed to stop calling but Jennifer was persistent and became increasingly rude and insisted she wasn't going to stop calling.
We started recording the time and date of each call. On April 14 at approximately 4:20 I got home and there was a voice mail from Jennifer saying "I don't know why you hung up but this is Jennifer and my number is 888-319-0986 x 1102 and I'm going to keep calling you. I asked my 15 year old if she had hung up on anyone and she told me that yes "that women" had called again and when she was listening to her talk the phone had cut off (15 year olds NEVER remember to put their cordless phones on the charger) so now this person Jennifer is calling and leaving rude messages on my machine.
I called back immediately and was told that Jennifer was out to lunch, but the gentlemen said he worked closer with Jennifer and could help me, did I have the account number? I told him I didn't, gave him the names and he said he would try to help me. I told him I would much rather speak with Jennifer but since we were not going to be home last evening I would tell him and proceeding to let him know that I did not appreciate the recorded message and now I have a 15 year old who is afraid to answer the phone because of debt collectors, which I have never and should never have to worry about because my bills are paid.
Now he said he couldn't help me so I asked for Jennifers manager. Mr. Engles got on the phone next and I remembered that my husband had this same conversation last month with Mr. Engles. He said he didn't remember the conversation with my husband but could I just give him the number for the people they were trying to reach. I told him I didn't have it and he called me a liar. he kept saying come on, just give me the number, who are these people to you and so on. He asked what the relation was and I told him it was none of his business so he asked to speak with my husband who wasn't home.
I was in mid sentence when he hung up on me. I called back and asked for him and told him I didn't appreciate him hanging up, to which he stated "our conversation was over you weren't helping me". I asked to speak with his supervisor and he refused to give his name and hung up again. I called back a third time and got the receptionist on the phone and asked if I could be connected to Mr. Engles supervisor. of course I had to go through the whole story yet again and she said I had to go out to the website and find the contact information that way, she couldn't tell me who the supervisor was.
I went to the web site and the only contact information was a page that you had to fill out with all your information and submit first and then someone would contact you. I'm sure if I did that it would land right on Mr. Engles or one of his cohorts desks. I am speaking with a lawyer today on what rights I have at this time. I've also gone on line to the Do Not Call list and listed the number again just in case the time had lasped. I know there has to be laws about harassment when the debt is not yours and you've stated that repeatedly.
