Sun, March 29, 2009
Sorry to hear about your situation with this company Asset Acceptance is one of the largest consumer collection agencys in the united states. They will use any method to try and obtain money from people and in the process they violate many consumer protection laws You have consumer rights and you should do something to protect yourself from asset acceptance If you gave them your bank account info I suggest you go to your bank and ask if you can open up a new account and close your old accounts so Asset Acceptance can no longer take money from you. Do no business with Asset Acceptance by telephone Do not give them any of your banking information at all. They will use that to take money from you. If you already have then go to your bank and ask for a new account and close the old accounts so Asset Acceptance cannot take any more money from you Do everything by Certified Mail with Return Receipt thru the post office so you have proof of contact with the company. You have legal rights, If they took a large amount of money from you I suggest contacting a attorney, you have consumer rights and asset acceptance has probably violated some law in taking the money from you and you should be able to fight and get the funds back to you. There are statue of limitations on how long a debt can be collected on. Asset Acceptance will violate Consumer Laws and still take money from people even after the Statue of Limitations has expired on a debt. Each state has different time periods for Statue of Limitations on debts. Do a search on the internet for Debt Statue of Limitations and you should find a site that can give you info on Each State and the Statue of Limitations for debts.
