Asset Acceptance Bank of America $544.56 from 1991 or 1992, first time I ever heard of it, yesterday! Warren Michigan
Yesterday 4/25/11 I was contacted by Asset Acceptance. I was told that I owed $544.56 for an account at Bank of America. I ask for information about this account, since I know that I have not had one with B of America before. I was given the classic debt collector speech, but not any information about when/who/where this account was opened or even when they got it. My phone went out after the call (tornado's/severe weather).
I called this AM Bank of America, they did not have any record of my ever having an account with them. I called Assest Acceptance at 7:00 a.m and ask if they had indeed called me yesterday. I was told that they had and that I owed B of America. I ask for more info. I was told that they got this account in 2004 and that it was for credit card in 1991-92. Still not any info. for when/where/etc.. I ask for validation/verification of when/who/where, I was told that "fraud papers" would be mailed to me.
This is the very first time I have ever heard of this supposed debt. I'm sure that I did NOT have a credit card at that time, since there was a bunch of stuff going on during that time period, that had my credit so messed up that I could not get any kind of credit.
When they read off the mailing address and phone number I told them it was not mine, but they still claim I owe this.
Are they doing this to anyone else? Is there any class action lawsuits being filed against them? I'm so tired of these rip off bill collectors just picking names out of the hat and calling people trying to harass them into paying fraudulent debts...
