Autotrail Transporters abused & mistreated, ripoff business from hell, tricked and lied to us, victimized many consumers Bayville NY .....

Incident = My first experience with this company was pleasant. They picked up and delivered my car as promised. However, the experience I am going through now is by far the worst experience I have ever gone in dealing with a business.

I contracted Autotrail transporter on April 12, 2003. They promised to have the vehicle delivered in 7 days. Well, 7 days later they had not picked up the vehicle to be delivered, so I called them whereupon they told me that it would be picked up in 3 days. This went on ever week, every time them telling me the trucks were delayed and that shipment would be by the end of the week. At no point in time would anyone at the company provide any elucidation as to the hold up, nor would they offer any consolation. They were short, blunt and offen crass when I would call simply to ask for status on pick up.

On May 12, one month later, someone in customer service told me that the vehicle was guaranteed to be picked up by the 22nd of May at the latest. The vehicle was not picked up, so I called on Monday and asked the problem and told them that the previous week someone had told me they guaranteed pick up, but they denied anyone ever telling that and said that I had to be mistaken. They also told me the vehicle would be picked up by the end of the week. It wasn\'t. Also at that time, I asked for a supervisor; the person at the other end of the phone told me she was the supervisor. I then asked for the owner; she said she was an owner. Obviously, I was frustrated and felt ripped off, but I also didn\'t want to cancel the transaction when they were really going to pick it up.

Finally, on June 9, after being given the run around for the previous 2 weeks, I called and asked for status. The representative quickly told me they were cancelling my order. I asked for a reason and they refused to give me one. I then asked for some type of extrapolation that provided reason to this debacle, but they refused. I then commented to the lady that I really hoped she liked working for who she worked for because it was a joke of an operation.

When I made said comment, she told me to hold on, whereupon an unnamed man came on the phone and started cussing and swearing like a 3rd grade bully. He refused to even speak civily. Frustrated, I asked when I could expect a refund; he replied that I would get a refund when he felt ready to give me a refund.

I feel abused and taken advantage of. They took my money and now I am worried about getting it back. I wish I knew he to turn to.

Damage Resulting = Thus far, I am out $500 plus the $700 I am paying someone else to ship the vehicle. Moreover, this shipment was a part of a business transaction that has kept me out of $5000 in addition to ruining my reputation as a businessman because of Autotrail transporters terrible business practices.
