Award Mobile Homes took my downpayment of $7,500 with the agreement that I would obtain full financing on the mobile home and land at an interest rate of 7%. Linda Maloney, VP, promised a full refund if there were any problems with the financing.

Now, almost 2 months later she has refused to give me a refund. The financing amount was lower than it should have been, the rate much higher and an out of pocket payment of $37,552.89 was required!! While I was in the Picken's county courthouse filing a claim against Award Mobile Homes, I met two additional families who had been ripped off of their downpayments! I consulted several attornies, several of which could not represent me because the had previously represented Award Homes. One of the attorneys has 3 current cases against Linda Maloney and Award Homes.

The Pickens County Sheriff's office told me that they had over twenty complaints in the past month on Award Homes. Do not trust these people with your business or your money!

Robin, your statements are just not true. Award Mobile Homes has a 30 year history of satisfied buyers and has won many awards for our customer service. Many of the customers who have bought from us are referrals from other satisfied customers. We appreciate that our customers refer their friends and relatives to us and work hard to keep their business.

We have no record of not refunding a customers down payment of $7500. For the protection of the consumer, mobile home retailers apply for a dealers license from the state and must adhere to stringent requirements to keep that license. They also get a business license in the city or county where they are located. If the dealer does not provide adequate service to their customers, then their dealers license from the state would be revoked. If we, at Award Mobile Homes, had neglected to refund deposits or if there were a number of other valid consumer complaints against us then our business would have lost its dealers license and been shut down in 2007 either by the courts or by the city or county who gives us a business license.

To be sure that our record is clean and to verify that what Robin says is NOT true, we called the local Sheriffs Department and Magistrates Court. We asked if there were any outstanding records of the complaints that Robin is describing. One administrator at the Sheriffs Office went back three years to look for complaints. In the past three years she could not find the over twenty complaints that Robin says were filed against us and certainly did not find any in the past month based on the date that Robin wrote about us here. In fact, in that three year computer search of complaints, there was no record of Robins complaint or any other one in 2007 either! Both of these legal authorities have verified that we are in good standing with them.

At Award Mobile Homes, our goal is to handle any customer issue as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we have no last name, e-mail address or phone number to contact Robin to get more information to help her resolve her complaint. We welcome contact from any of our customers with questions on our homes. We strive for open communication and superior customer service and are proud of the numerous awards we have achieved in this regard. If any of our customers has a problem with the home that they have bought from us, we would prefer them to contact us directly by phone or in person to allow us to resolve their issue. In a public forum such as this we have little access to direct communication and thus do not have the transaction information needed to resolve the issue in a timely fashion.
